Jacks b Young 39 (Eng 104-2)
Will Jacks edges Craig Young for another four but he's bowled through the gate by the Irish seamer next ball.
It's skilful bowling from Young who just finds a bit of movement off the seam to get through the Jacks drive.
Ireland needed that.

We've had half an hour of cricket and the game has already completely gone away from Ireland.

That's right in Will Jacks' Willhouse, he is so destructive. Jacks has seen that one very well.
If you thought the wicket of Phil Salt might bring a change of approach from Will Jacks, think again as he clears the ropes again with an incredible shot.
Barry McCarthy is into the attack and Jacks, on the front foot, smears the Ireland seamer's first ball over the cover boundary for six.
England finish the over with a couple of runs off Zak Crawley's bat to bring up their fastest hundred off just eight overs.

Craig Young has taken 1-9 off two overs. Mark Adair and Josh Little have gone for 0-77 combined from their five overs.

Salt's innings is over. Barry McCarthy gets underneath it and Salt is on his way, getting a pat on the back from Jacks. When you play extravagantly like that, there is always that risk.
Salt c McCarthy b Young 61 (Eng 87-1)
Smart bowling from wily 33-year-old Craig Young as Phil Salt's blistering knock is over.
The England opener gets his timing wrong and chips it up to Barry McCarthy who, feeling the eyes of the crowd on him, steadies himself before holding the catch.

You feel that Salt and Jacks could quite play easily at the next level up, the main England side that is, and be at home there.
Andy Zaltzman
Cricket statistician on Test Match Special
This is the highest score of any side in men's ODI cricket after six overs in the first innings of a match.
Craig Young is unflappable. His dependable accurate medium pacers are not quite so easy to get away for England in this blistering start.
Two dots and three singles in the first five balls of his second over.

What makes it better is that Phil Salt is spotting the slightest changes in the field and is still finding boundaries.

Phil Salt's half-century came up in just 22 balls, hitting three sixes and seven fours. It is his fourth score of 50 or more in ODI cricket, including one century against the Netherlands last year.
It is the joint-fourth fastest 50 for England in ODI cricket.
Breath-taking hitting from Phil Salt. I was in Amstelveen for England's record ODI score against the Netherlands but he was much more conventional that day en route to 122.
Salt finishes the over with another six; down on one leg he uses those powerful wrists of his to whip it behind square.

They're going to need a new ball because that has bounced on the concrete and bounced out of the ground.

That's a half century for Phil Salt in just 22 balls.
Phil Salt brings up his third half-century for England by heaving Josh Little into the stands for the third six of his innings.
Paul Stirling whips the hapless Mark Adair out the attack and Craig Young's control brings a semblance of normality to proceedings.
Six runs off the over, which is miserly compared to what Josh Little and Adair have endured.
There's half a chance for the Irish off when Phil Salt goes aerial at the end of the over but the ball drops short of the fielder at mid-off.
Here's an early drive from Will Jacks to salivate over.

Ireland need to just bowl straight. I know it sounds simple but in bowling meetings you are trying to come up with plans and sometimes, you just need to bowl straight.
