I am pleased with things at this stage. It is a very patchwork bowling attack for New Zealand but England have every now and then just let them get in the game.

Hang on. Matt Henry has changed ends. Theirs, not ours. Cheeky from Root, who immediately greets him with a reverse sweep for four. Impish stuff.

England will be disappointed that their batters have got starts but nobody other than Joe Root has managed to kick on.

Matt Henry has done his job, picking up the wicket of Buttler, which you can see below. Now Santner is back. Shame, we have to store up the Matt Henry joke, which our own Matt Henry loves. "Did you know my name is Matt Henry? His name is Matt Henry too. We're not the same person." I think he's been telling everyone inside the ground in Ahmedabad.

The speed of this outfield may be a bit of a concern for England.

One thing to keep an eye on is the England sunhats. Seem to be a new design. Extra-wide brim. Absolutely massive. Wouldn't be out of out place as the headgear for a wedding. Looking forward to seeing them in the second half.

Liam Livingstone was in a very uncomfortable position to play that short ball.

    Oh, hello.

Wake up, Livi. Vicious bouncer from Matt Henry, a real welcome to the crease for Livingstone. A clonk on the head and a leg bye. Livingstone has a smile on his face as he undergoes a concussion test. He seems alright.

Liam Livingstone is England's new man. This is a nice amount of time for him to bat. Matt Henry has 2-30. Impressive.

He was just looking to dab the ball down to third.

Matt Henry has got nip out of the surface throughout the day today. It's a huge breakthrough.

Just as Jos Buttler was getting set, and looking to go hard.

It's come at the perfect time for New Zealand..

They have got a habit of taking wickets at key moments. Every time England look to be taking the game away from them, they find a way through.

    Big one!

Matt Henry being used in the middle overs has struck an important blow for the Kiwis.

It's just nibbled back at Jos Buttler, who is cramped for room. Nothing shot, really. Little edge through to Tom Latham.

That's huge for the Black Caps, because England were looking very dangerous.

Joe Root is eyeing up the big shots now. Rachin Ravindra has got to be consistently inconsistent - he's got to try and put Root in two minds.

He's getting into positions for his reverse-sweeps very easily at the moment.

I'm fairly certain Aggers once got into trouble for jaywalking in Adelaide when he crossed the road in the wrong place.

There's a sign on our door that says there's a fine of 5,000 rupees - which is around £50 - if you are caught spitting.

    Root 58, Buttler 43

Ravindra is on to bowl his left-armers, one of those overs we were talking about. Root plays the most delicate reverse, the touch of a cat burglar. Four very fine. Remember when he was out of form?

He really is timing the ball beautifully. We know how strong the players are these days but Jos Buttler is just caressing the ball for four.
