It's been a perfect batting performances given the conditions. It's not a belter.
Root 40, Malan 99
Mahedi Hasan, not to be confused with Mehidy Hasan, continues into his fourth over.
The off-spinner has been expensive so far and this one costs six with four singles and two pushed to deep extra cover by Dawid Malan.
That'll be drinks with Malan unbeaten on 99.
Just three from Shakib Al Hasan's latest but the Bangladesh skipper has only one over of his allotted 10 remaining.
Given he has looked the most threatening of the bowlers today, that's not good news for the fielding side.

Score predictor is suggesting 380 - that would be some score.
Dawid Malan has been in supreme form so far today and is approaching another century...
The theory used to be that if you had wickets in hand, you doubled your score at 30 overs.
Based on that, England are on for somewhere between 350 and 400 here...

He was doing everything to avoid his knee getting caught in the turf.

That was a half-hearted dive, but it's so awkward for the boundary riders.
Dawid Malan moves into the 90s with a cut shot that beats the man in the deep.
On a better outfield I'm sure that would have been stopped but the fielder was wary of diving and that allowed the ball to sneak through.

The ground is starting to fill up, it's certainly at least half full.
Long hop from Shakib Al Hasan and Joe Root isn't going to miss out.
He rocks back and pulls the ball over mid-wicket. One bounce for four.

Ian Graham: The commentary from Dharamsala on #bbccricket is so evocative, it makes me pine for the sights, sounds and smells.
Shame about the outfield, which was being re-laid in May '22 when we were there. Hope it doesn't put the kibosh on the Test in March and England fans can enjoy it!
Lovely shot again from Joe Root.
He's down quickly to Shakib Al Hasan and plays a delicate reverse paddle-sweep that runs away fine for four.
Classic Root, you look up and suddenly he's 30 not out - 32 to be precise, and from just 29 balls.

This is the perfect platform for England, who are going at just over six an over.
A dot ball ends the over but there are still 10 off it. As England continue to move towards a big total.
Top shot!
We've got used to seeing Joe Root play his reverse scoop but this time he goes for the standard ramp.
He's quickly across his stumps and puts Mustafizur Rahman over fine leg for six.
After a half-century in the last game, Joe Root made a a bright start today with a lovely lofted straight drive for four...

I am surprised that England spoke about batting second on this pitch. It looks like a classic two-paced pitch which won't get better.
Root 19, Malan 82
Something of a rarity in this match, a dive in the outfield from the long off fielder.
It's a successful one, too, to cut off a lofted drive from Dawid Malan but Najmul Hossain Shanto is a little slow to get up.
He seems to be OK, the concern is more the sand on his hands and knees than any injury.
