  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8 overs

    Tanzid c Conway b Ferguson 16 (Ban 40-2)

Lockie Ferguson changes to round the wicket and the change of angle does for the left-handed Tanzid Hasan.

The Bangladesh batter gets a relative freebie on his legs from Ferguson but clips it straight into the hands of the grateful Devon Conway at square leg.

A bit of a soft dismissal, in all honesty.

  2. Ban 39-1published at 7.3 overs

Change of bowling from New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson as Matt Henry is pulled from the attack

Lockie Ferguson, who has a penchant for black bowling boots, is bustling into the crease.

His third delivery is a no-ball as he oversteps but Tanzid Hasan unable to profit from the free hit that follows.

I think Bangladesh have steadied the ship. Playing nice and controlled, the key is for one of these two - if not both - to get a big score. If they can get to 270 or 300, with the spinners they have, it will be a difficult chase for New Zealand.

  4. Ban 38-1published at 7 overs

Trent Boult, who you may recall gave up a central contract with New Zealand to play more franchise cricket and spend time with his family, into another over for the Black Caps.

It's a testing one as he mixes up his lengths to Mehidy Miraz, who eventually picks up a single off the last ball through third.

  5. Ban 37-1published at 6 overs

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, white sunblock on his lips, chews the fat with Matt Henry before his third over.

The Kiwi seamer starts with three dots - two defended then a bouncer which Mehidy Miraz ducks out of the way of.

Henry's fourth ball takes Mehidy on to the back foot and he jabs it for three runs in the point region. Devon Conway with a brilliant dive on the rope to save four.

The left-handed Tanzid Hasan punches the penultimate ball of the over to the fence. Minimal effort in the shot - all timing.

We've seen teams be relatively cautious at the top of the innings to preserve wickets for later on. 30-1 is the highest score after five overs in this tournament.

I think this is clever thinking. The previous ball was a bouncer, so he moved to meet that length ball. Bangladesh are just getting going.

  8. Ban 30-1published at 5 overs

A hook from Tanzid Hasan to a short ball from Trent Boult and he gets lucky with a top edge which flies over the head of wicketekeepr Tom Latham and races away for four.

A couple of balls later and Hasan skips down the pitch and chips it over the head of the letf-arm seamer for a more conventional boundary.

Litton Das is the first player to be out for a golden duck from the first ball of an innings in an international on their birthday.

  10. Ban 22-1published at 4 overs

Here's that incredible start to the game after Litton Das, on his birthday no less, found Matt Henry down at fine leg.

Trent Boult with a grin like a Cheshire cat. Or whatever the Kiwi equivalent is.

  11. Ban 16-1published at 3 overs

Mehidy Miraz flashes at a wide delivery from Trent Boult which beats the dive of Daryl Mitchell, stationed in a wide second slip position, and Bangladesh pick up four more.

Runs a little bit easier to come by off this pitch than in the match between India and Australia in Chennai last Sunday.

  12. Ban 10-1published at 2 overs

Good luck getting a question in there, Matt.

An elegant shot on the up from Mehidy Miraz who stands tall to the fourth ball from the other Matt Henry and threads it beautifully beyond point for four.

Is there a big game on tomorrow?

  14. Ban 5-1published at 1 over

Tanzid Hasan picks up a boundary when he cashes in on a slightly full ball from Trent Boult which he nudges behind Tom Latham behind the stumps.

It certainly wasn't the most beautiful ball that Trent Boult's ever bowled! But what game awareness from New Zealand.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.1 overs

    Das c Henry b Boult 0 (Ban 0-1)

What a start! A wicket off the very first ball as Litton Das goes for a diamond duck.

Das shuffled down the pitch and tried to make a statement of intent against Trent Boult but flicks it fine into the hands of Matt Henry.

Right, Trent Boult has the ball in hand at the top of his mark. Litton Das is on strike.

    Play.
