  1. SL 110-0published at 19 overs

Marcus Stoinis' second over concludes with a sharp, well-directed bouncer, but unfortunately for him the only reward from it goes to Sri Lanka.

A leaping Josh Inglis can't get a hand to the ball, and the batters are able to run another two.

    More sloppiness from the keeper.

It has been a very good knock. He's taken a blow but it hasn't stopped him making big blows against the Australia bowlers.

It is important that one of these goes on and makes a big hundred.

Launched down the ground for four! What a way for Kusal Perera to reach his half-century.

It has been a decent start from Sri Lanka. I'm pleased, but not delighted because I have seen Sri Lanka throw away scenarios like this on many occasions.

It is a massive game to get off the foot of the table and keep breathing in this tournament. You would feel alive again.

Can Perera and Nissanka push on now and make the most of this platform?

  7. SL 102-0published at 18 overs

    Nissanka 47, Perera 47

Kusal Perera keeps up his aggression despite the blow to the helmet, skipping down the pitch and lofting Adam Zampa down the ground for a couple more.

A wide brings up Sri Lanka's 100, and a brilliant partnership between the opening pair.

Kusal Perera is going to continue. He looks a little more steady, and is smiling, which is good news.

The medics go through the tests and protocols, and decide he is fine to play on.

There is a fine line between trusting the medical expert and trusting a player who knows his own body.

Kusal Perera is then clattered on the head by a Marcus Stoinis bouncer.

We're going to have a break for a concussion test. He's standing and talking, but doesn't look particularly stable, so this might take a while.

You can look at that two ways: It could be a drop or it could be saving two runs. It was an amazing, acrobatic attempt. Goalkeepers in the Premier League would have been happy with that effort.

That was a chance but of the toughest variety. It was clattered at him.

  15. dropped catch

Nissanka dropped on 43published at 16.4 overs

    SL 95-0

Feels very harsh to be calling this a drop because the effort alone from Marnus Labuschagne is spectacular.

Pathum Nissanka pulls ferociously, absolutely out of the middle of the bat towards a leaping Labuschagne at mid-wicket. He gets a hand to it but it doesn't stick.

It does save two runs, though. That was some timing from Nissanka.

In case you missed it earlier, Kusal Perera should be back in the dugout.

Australia missed an opportunity to get rid of him on 24.

There was definitely some body language in the fielding from Marnus Labuschagne in that over. It was as if he was saying 'come on, we need to up it and I'm going to set the example'.

  18. Not outpublished at 16 overs

    SL 91-0

As the umpire predicted, Perera was safely in.

Labuschagne's response there looked like one of frustration, just begging for something to go their way.

    Now then!

Is this the bit of magic that Australia needed?

Kusal Perera sets off for a single, is sent back, and Marnus Labuschagne throws down the stumps from point.

The umpire is originally not bothered but Labuschagne keeps chirping away at him. So now we're going to have a look.

Sri Lanka are sensing that Adam Zampa is low on confidence.

There is a suggestion that he might not be 100% fit either.
