  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.3 overs

    Willey c Rabada b Ngidi 12 (Eng 100-8)

David Willey skies Lungi Ngidi off the splice of the bat and Kagiso Rabada runs aronud to take a fine diving catch.

South Africa have been excellent in every department. With the bat, ball and in the field.

They have picked themselves up from that shock defeat to the Netherlands and roared back.

Willey launches it, have a bit of that medicine. David Willey is capable of this, he just needs about another 25 of those.

  3. 6 runs

    Eng 100-7published at 16.2 overs

David Willey plunders some boundaries, including a big six off Lungi Ngidi. to get England over the 100 mark.

I'm not really sure how England come back from this.

The signs were there in the loss to Afghanistan. I'm not sure how much lower we can get after this complete annihilation.

It is only going one way and it is going that way very quickly.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.1 overs

    Rashid c Hendricks b Coetzee 10 (Eng 84-7)

Short and wide from Gerald Coetzee and Adil Rashid cannot resist having a flash at it.

However, Rashid can only toe end it to Reeza Hendricks at first slip.

England will do well to make a 100 here now, I think.

England have avoided the heaviest defeat in ODI cricket of 317 runs, they have gotten past that one.

  9. Eng 84-6published at 15 overs

...but the South Africa seamer came back well to capture his wicket with the first ball of his next over.

  10. Eng 81-6published at 14 overs

A little while ago Jos Butler hit three consecutive boundaries off Gerald Coetzee, including a brilliant six...

I jest, of course. I wouldn't bevy on the job.

Gerald Coetzee continues after drinks. Adil Rashid sees off three dots without scoring.

Rashid responds by biffing Coetzee into the leg side for four.

  12. drinks break

The players take some liquids on board.

I don't know about you but I'm heading to the drinks cabinet for something slightly stronger.

England 74-6 against South Africa…I hope that isn’t the rugby score later…

David Willey picks up a boundary with an inside edge after being cut in two by Kagiso Rabada.

    It feels rather academic.

Michael: Just because you’ve made an exhausting century, why should you be allowed to sit out the fielding? Isn’t that just part of the game?

We've just seen a picture of Heinrich Klaasen, he's wrapped in a towel looking like a Greek god in a toga. I don't think we'll be seeing him field today.

What muddled thinking putting South Africa in. There was the chance to make the opposition sweat in the heat and post a score leaving the bowlers fresh. Instead we are in that position and paying the price!

You feel this game might be a slight boost to South Africa's net run rate.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.3 overs

Brook lbw Coetzee 17 (Eng 69-6)

    A formality, really.

It's a delivery from Gerald Coetzee which squares up Harry Brook, stays low, and skips on to hit his pad.

    A celebrappeal from Coetzee.

Brook was unbalanced and falling over. He was already about halfway off the ground despite reviewing it.
