What a shot. You cannot take any risk of bowling a little bit full, you bowl full it comes really nicely onto the bat, good bounce and Babar Azam is just looking at the ball sailing away.

  2. 6 runs

    Afg 211-2published at 38 overs

    Need 72 from 72 balls

    My days.

I was just thinking Hassan Ali might be winning Pakistan this game with this economical spell but Rahmat Shah ruins it somewhat with a glorious straight drive.

It's textbook high elbow from Rahmat and the ball flies over the ropes for six.

  3. Afg 204-2published at 37 overs

    Need 79 from 78 balls

    It is like buses.

Hashmatullah Shahidi takes a single and then Rahmat Shah slog-sweeps into the mid-wicket boundary. Magnificent shot.

Rahmat has cramp now and Muhammad Rizwan is helping out again.

  4. Afg 199-2published at 36.3 overs

    Need 84 from 81 balls

    And there it is.

Hashmatullah Shahidi takes one step down the pitch and drills a straight drive past mid-off for four.

Shadab Khan sticks out his tongue in disappointment.

  5. Afg 195-2published at 36.2 overs

    Need 88 from 82 balls

We've had 11 dot balls in a row now.

    Something has to give.

  6. Afg 195-2published at 36 overs

    Need 88 from 84 balls

Make that nine dot balls in a row.

A brilliant maiden from Hassan Ali, who has figures of 1-3 from his last three overs.

  7. Afg 195-2published at 35.4 overs

We've had seven dot balls in a row.

    The pressure is building.

There doesn't really seem to be much dew at the minute, the towels are out but they are not really being used that much.

  10. Afg 195-2published at 35 overs

    Need 88 from 90 balls

This pitch is starting to get a bit trickier by the things of it. There's a bit more bounce for Iftikhar Ahmed, and he draws the edge of Hashmatullah Shahidi. It brings a good diving stop from Babar Azam at point.

The required run-rate has sneaked above a run-a-ball for the first time.

I wonder if that is a little bit of a lazy, tired shot from Zadran. That one just looked lazy/tired and finding the edge. Good areas from Hassan Ali and this is where they test the theory of if they are good enough to hold their nerve.

This is good for Hashmatullah, Afghanistan don't need 7s or 8s an over, it is 5.75. He can eat up a couple of deliveries and it is a good situation for him.

  13. Afg 191-2published at 34 overs

    Need 92 from 96 balls

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi is the new batter. He blocks out two dots, before cutting for a single.

Hassan Ali's last two overs have gone for just three runs. He's pushing the run-rate up.

Is this the point Pakistan can start turning the screws to open this game?

    Zadran c Rizwan b Hassan 87 (Afg 190-2)

Afghanistan's wait for a first World Cup centurion goes on.

Hassan Ali finds a little bit of extra bounce and draws the outside edge of Ibrahim Zadran's bat as he looks to force away a back-foot drive.

It's a healthy nick and Muhammad Rizwan completes a simple catch behind the stumps.

Rahmat Shah is often mentioned as Afghanistan's most technically gifted batter. If he's there at the end, or near it, his side win this game, surely?

  17. Afg 189-1published at 33 overs

    Need 94 from 102 balls

Pakistan are been very average in the field. This is more sloppiness as Imam ul-Haq dives over the ball and Afghanistan are able to get a couple.

The required run-rate is pretty steady at 5.52 now. Afghanistan have two set batters too with Rahmat Shah on 31 and Ibrahim Zadran on 87.

Afghanistan are still comfortably ahead of Pakistan, but remember the latter added 61 in the final five overs of their innings.

Afghanistan will need to stay ahead.

That fifth ball of the over should give Pakistan some encouragement. Decent length and it felt like it kept a little bit lower than it should.

  20. Afg 184-1published at 32 overs

    Need 99 from 108 balls

    Almost!

Hassan Ali gets one to keep a little low and it causes Ibrahim Zadran to over-balance a little bit.

Hands on head stuff from Hassan.

A great over for Pakistan though, with just one run coming off it.
