Brook, Carse, Curran and Atkinson should play all the remaining games as it'll be good experience for the younger players. By younger I of course mean the only players actually under 30.

  2. SL 72-2published at 13 overs

    Target 157

Tidy over from Adil Rashid with Sadeera Samarawickrama taking a risk as he plays around his front pad to work a single to square leg.

Three from the over. Decent England bowling but no real chances being created.

A slippery over from Mark Wood. He certainly was whizzing them through - but no good looking impressive, they need wickets quickly.

Nice to see England channelling their inner Micky Flanagan's. They are not just going out, they are going OUT OUT!

  5. SL 69-2published at 12 overs

    Target 157

A couple more cracking deliveries from Mark Wood to end the over, going past Pathum Nissanka's edge twice in a row.

Good pace, as you'd expect from Wood, but no wicket and that's what England need.

  6. SL 68-2published at 11.2 overs

    Target 157

Mark Wood is into the attack and his first ball is flayed away through point for four by Sadeera Samarawickrama.

He comes back with a good 'un, though, squaring up the right-hander and beating the outside edge.

With the field spread like this the Sri Lankan batters will be lot more comfortable, getting on the back foot and working the ball around. If you brought the field up they'd be forced to take the bowler on.

  8. SL 64-2published at 11 overs

    Target 157

The runs required is into double figures now for Sri Lanka and Pathum Nissanka takes a further four off it with a firm drive through the covers.

England have got the field set back which isn't doing much to create any pressure.

Adil Rashid will continue. He was pumped into the stands by Pathum Nissanka in his first over...

I'd be inclined to stick with Jos Buttler as captain if he wants to continue. He's clearly going to be in the side - he's a world-class white-ball player despite a tricky World Cup - and there aren't too many obvious alternatives.

There are sure to be changes to the rest of the side so stick with a T20 World Cup winning captain and see what he can do with a fresher, younger group.

Fantastic player, don’t see him as a natural leader though. Big changes from this starting with Buttler’s captaincy.

    Target 157

Just a single from the last. Sri Lanka have steadied themselves after those two wickets and are pretty much a third of the way to their target now.

No wonder head coach Chris Silverwood looks so content on the Sri Lanka balcony.

    That's a telling blow. It's a superb shot.

Brilliant shot! Tossed up by Adil Rashid and Pathum Nissanka takes him on.

Down the track and pummelled over long on for six!

I'm not getting excited. We will start well and then throw it away. It is just the truth. I am not impressed with this England team, too reliable on specific people, we should play as a team like we do in Test cricket, and we will need a new captain to bring the team together, I'm not saying too much yet though.

This is a good move, to see what the spinner can get out of it. Rashid bowls slowly. He could be the one buying a wicket. It's an attacking move.

  17. SL 43-2published at 8 overs

    Target 157

Sensible batting from the Sri Lanka pair, taking five from David Willey's over with four singles and a wide.

That sort of approach will get them over the line with plenty of time to spare.

England are going to try to tempt them into taking more risks, though. Adil Rashid is coming on to bowl inside the powerplay...

England doing that very English thing if giving us a tiny flutter of hope...

Had it not been for inside edge, Nissanka was in serious strife. Woakes is hitting a good length.
