  1. SA 74-2published at 11 overs

Haris Rauf is too full to Aiden Markram with his fifth ball. Markram drives him beautifully through the covers for four.

    Pure timing.

Thankfully Rassie van der Dussen is okay.

Think he has got a career in dog whispering lined up when he hangs up his bat.

Aamer Iqbal: I think this is going one of two ways. Either South Africa knock the runs off in around 20 overs or they are all out for 100. Probably going to be another one-sided game coming up.

That was fast, it was hostile from Haris Rauf. Straight into the badge on the front of Van der Dussen's helmet.

  5. ouch!

    SA 70-2published at 10.2 overs

A sweaty Haris Rauf bustles in with real intent.

His third delivery is vicious and short. Rassie van der Dussen is struck on the side of the helmet as he turns his head attempting to pull it.

He'll have a quick concussion check.

Temba Bavuma is normally a quality player of shorter bowling. South Africa aren't in a spot of bother but there's enough seeds of doubts being sewn at the moment given their struggles of chasing. If Pakistan can stay good in the field, keep things tight and stay in this game for as long as they can, they can take a couple of quick wickets. Bang, bang.

South Africa's captain was just starting to motor along there.

    Bavuma c Shakeel b Wasim 28 (SA 67-2)

    Clothed it.

Temba Bavuma attempts to pull Mohammad Wasim but ends up spooning the ball in the air to Saud Shakeel at short mid-wicket.

A touch of over confidence had maybe crept in there.

  9. SA 67-2published at 9.4 overs

This definitely feels like a pitch you really have to get yourself in on before runscoring becomes a little easier.

Rassie van der Dussen sees off four dot balls off Mohammad Wasim before guiding one down to third to pick up a single.

Here's a clip of Temba Bavuma going up through the gears after his circumspect start.

It's another magnificent blow from Bavuma who has hit four fours in quick succession.

Another boundary for Temba Bavuma, who has struggled to make a big score amid South Africa's blitz of runs at this World Cup.

The South Africa skipper picks up the length from Haris Rauf's third ball, comes on the front foot, and whips it over the boundary at cow corner for six.

    A real show of intent.

They are bowling Muhammad Nawaz, there is something about Pakistan only wanting to bowl spin at this end. We thought the Iftikhar Ahmed, experiment was only for Quinton de Kock but evidently not.

  13. SA 52-1published at 7 overs

Temba Bavuma has eked out five runs from 13 balls before he explodes into life.

The South Africa skipper sweeps, drives and flicks three fours against the spin of Mohammad Nawaz to get himself up and running.

That has released any pressure Pakistan were attempting to build.

  14. SA 38-1published at 6.1 overs

Quinton de Kock took a shine to Shaheen Afridi's bowling...but the Pakistan quick bowler had the last laugh.

  15. SA 38-1published at 6 overs

    Target 271

Pakistan applying a bit of a pressure here.

Just one run off the over, and they are streaky at best, as Rassie van der Dussen inside edges one square off Shaheen Afridi.

Rassie van der Dussen is someone you want in your team. He's not Virat Kohli or Kane Williamson but he's part of the next generation that could be elevated.

Pakistan are pumped in the field after that wicket.

Salman Ali Agha produces a brilliant diving stop to deny Rassie van der Dussen a second run.

Three runs off Mohammad Nawaz's over.

It is smart from Shaheen Afridi, he's only bowled three balls so far but that was De Kock attempting to hit out to the longer side of the boundary and that was a comfortable catch.

It has hit flat, it was hit hard, but it was hit straight into the hands of Wasim Junior.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.3 overs

    De Kock c Wasim b Afridi 24 (SA 34-1)

Quinton de Kock cannot quite believe it.

He makes clean contact with a pull to a short ball from Shaheen Afridi, but rather than sailing over the boundary it falls right into the hands of Mohammad Wasim.

Shaheen kisses his fingers and points to the sky. De Kock stands there, before trudging off.
