  1. Netherlands win toss and batpublished at 09:13 British Summer Time 28 October 2023

Meanwhile, over at Eden Gardens in Kolkata the toss has just taken place for the match between the Netherlands and Bangladesh.

Dutch skipper Scott Edwards has won it and decided to bat first on what looks like pretty good track.

Play will get underway in that one at 09:30 BST.

I'm not sure Pat Cummins meant to put that shot there but it does not matter.

You would be hoping Australia would go at eight an over from here, get to 360/365 from here, we were on track for 500 at one point!

  4. Aus 329-6published at 45 overs

Australia captain Pat Cummins is the next man in, and he takes four from the final delivery of the over, cutting through backward point.

There wasn't much control there, it's just sliced up in the air and Trent Boult takes an easy catch.

With that, perhaps Australia's aspirations of pushing towards 400 have faded as well.

    Maxwell c Boult b Neesham 41 (Aus 325-6)

    Maxwell goes!

He tries to smack the medium pace of Jimmy Neesham down the ground - likely targeting the long-on boundary but ends up dropping the ball into the hands off Trent Boult at long-off.

He departs for 41 from 24 and is glowering - he'd have wanted more.

What Australia can hold on to is the fact that this is a used wicket. Especially with this being a day game. Australia took that ascendency straight away.

  9. Aus 324-5published at 44 overs

Strong over from the returning Matt Henry, just two from it. Maxwell and Inglis try big hits but can normally pick up a run apiece.

I'd normally be running around one of the UK's parks right now. Hello to all our parkrunners, hurry back for the rest of this match.

Considering how Australia started so strong, I'm surprised not to have seen them get a bigger score from here.

  11. Aus 322-5published at 43 overs

Maxwell takes a mis-hit single and looks annoyed he didn't get a third consecutive six.

Inglis then takes two through cover - 16 from the over, Santner finishes with figures of 2-80.

Mitch Santner has thrown it wider because of how well Maxwell hit the previous one straight - and yet he's still managed to hit it for six.

Where do New Zealand turn now? Santner was expensive but he took wickets, and he's bowled out - so has Glenn Phillips. So now they are in a sticky position.

    Blimey.

I'd just talked about how great Mitchell Santer was, and Glenn Maxwell has just dispatched him for successive sixes.

The first is absolutely massive, flying down the ground and hitting the roof of the distinctive stands at Dharamsala. He follows with a comparatively moderate heave over midwicket.

Maxwell moves to 41 from 17.

  15. Aus 306-5published at 42 overs

Ravindra pulls it back a little, the Australians exchange singles from the back half of the over.

Nobody else in the world plays like Glenn Maxwell does, and he makes it look so easy.

That is just extraordinary. It is also so brave to trust your technique that much to play it without a helmet on.

  18. Aus 304-5published at 41.3 overs

The pendulum swings again with a big couple of hefts of Glenn Maxwell's bat.

He reverses Ravindra for four from successive deliveries, bringing up his side's 300 with the first shot. The second is bigger, almost going for six but dropping just short of the rope.

Mitchell Santner is such a classy player. After Australia showed signs of getting going he reigns them in, just three singles from the over.

My colleague Ffion Wynne wrote a nice piece about him the other day - take a read when you get the chance.
