  1. 100 runs

100 for Headpublished at 21.3 overs

What an innings this has been. Not only does Travis Head have three figures, but it is bought up in just 59 balls, having not played cricket in the past six weeks.

A brilliant player and in this kind of form, it is tough to keep him quiet.

At the moment, Glenn Phillips is the unlikely candidate to bowl things back into New Zealand's favour. After just 20 overs, Australia are eyeing a much bigger score I'm sure.

  3. Aus 187-1published at 21 overs

Just two more singles are worked off the end of that Ravindra over, going for 10 in total.

Glenn Phillips carries on at the other end. He has gone for less than four an over so far and has a wicket to his name.

New Zealand's next most economical has been Trent Boult, going at 7.5 an over...

  4. How's stat?!published at 07:28 British Summer Time 28 October 2023

In the first 10 overs, Australia were 118-0. In the second ten overs, they scored 59-1.

    Aus 185-1published at 20.3 overs

    Head is at it again!

A glorious shot from Head as he smashes the ball back over Ravindra's head, moving himself onto 98.

This is certainly not the performance of someone who has missed the whole World Cup so far due to recovering from a broken hand.

    Thanks, Ffion.

David Warner misses out on a third World Cup partnership of 200+ runs, but it is hardly a bad start for Australia, is it?

While the partnership has been broken, Mitchell Marsh is in, and if he gets going alongside the impressive Travis Head, New Zealand are going to have quite the task to chase this down.

  7. Aus 177-1published at 20 overs

Mitchell Marsh is in at three, joining Travis Head on 91.

Jonty Colman deserves a much better handover than this, but to be honest, I just want to get away as soon as possible.

Here he is to take you through the middle overs which I'm sure will be just as... fun?

Phillips has bowled well. Australia's openers haven't got after him and he has deserved that wicket.

  9. wicket

    Warner c & b Phillips 81 (Aus 175-1)

    A wicket! An actual wicket!!

A tame end for David Warner as he chips one back to Glenn Phillips who takes a simple catch in his follow-through.

An extraordinary partnership comes to an end.

New Zealand barely celebrate. They have been annihilated this morning.

What a shot, it wasn't that short and it was a clubbing whallop.

  11. Aus 175-0published at 19 overs

Somehow, Travis Head whacks a full, good length delivery past mid-off for four.

This is his first game of the World Cup. Atrocious behaviour.

  12. Aus 165-0published at 18 overs

Australia are going to win this thing, aren't they?

That's a lovely shot from Head, straight down the ground, uses the feet. He's not stopping.

  14. Aus 162-0published at 17.2 overs

Travis Head removes his helmet for the spinners, and he means business. Second ball after drinks is hammered down the ground for four.

How often does Glenn Phillips drop catches?

It went at him so quickly, but Glenn Phillips reacts very late to the ball coming at him.

  17. dropped catch

Head dropped on 75published at 17 overs

    Aus 158-0

    Another life for Travis Head.

A short ball from Rachin Ravindra is absolutely clobbered at Glenn Phillips at mid-wicket. I'm not sure I've ever seen him make a mistake in the field so it's another uncharacteristic blemish from New Zealand.

He gets two hands to it, and it was struck firmly, but he can't hang on.

Still, a solid over from Ravindra. Just three runs from the over.

  18. Aus 155-0published at 16 overs

Not to alarm anyone, but we've had three overs without a boundary.

New Zealand are back in it.

  19. Postpublished at 07:03 British Summer Time 28 October 2023

Just joining us after your alarm has woke you up?

The opening hour of this game has been utter carnage.

David Warner and the returning Travis Head have attacked New Zealand from the get-go, and they have had no answers so far.

  20. Aus 151-0published at 15 overs

Some justice for the Mitchell Santner fan club!!

No boundaries and just five off the over.
