New Zealand are stalling, thanks to Glenn Maxwell.

They're ticking five or six an over off him easily but there are no boundaries, and he's not under any pressure.

Travis Head is made to look a bit foolish at short third as the ball flies off Ravindra's edge and spins through his legs, but it doesn't have enough on it to reach the boundary.

Daryl Mitchell is so, so good at playing straight that down the ground. It is just picked up and goes straight off the middle of his bat.

  3. NZ 101-2published at 14 overs

    Target 389

Singles, singles, singles before Daryl Mitchell gets fed up of that and slams Pat Cummins back over his head for four.

More, please. Quite a few more.

  4. NZ 93-2published at 13 overs

    Target 389

Glenn Maxwell fizzes through another over of six singles. New Zealand can't afford that.

In between overs Scott Edwards, the Netherlands captain, sees an interview with his dad being played on the big screen at Eden Gardens.

He shakes his head in the way that an embarrassed teenager might when a parent makes a joke in front of the youngster's friends.

Edwards has 13 off 22 balls as he and Bas de Leede (8*) play relatively cautiously in a bid to get some sort of total to defend on the board.

The Dutch skipper has offered a couple of chances, but was dropped by Liton Das at second slip and by wicktekeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.

Starc has actually over ran that, what we have discovered at Dharamsala is that fielding is very difficult, partly down to the poor outfield.

  7. NZ 87-2published at 12 overs

    Target 389

A Mitchell Starc misfield adds four to the total, but he was understandably a bit hesitant in the dive given the nature of Dharamsala's outfield.

New Zealand could do with a couple of big overs here. Bit like the one Jimmy Neesham bowled that had four sixes in it.

When you are chasing a massive target, you can't afford to slow down. That's the difference between setting a big score and chasing a big score.

  9. NZ 79-2published at 11 overs

    Target 389

    Shot.

Daryl Mitchell, a man in form after his century v India, nails a reverse sweep to the boundary.

Big partnership needed between these two. The target is so vast that they can't really afford any rebuilding phases.

This is how a lot of these run chases play out, isn't it? A glimmer of hope, Young and Conway raced to 50. The introduction of Glenn Maxwell, just like Glenn Phillips for New Zealand, and a couple of wickets have fallen.

  11. NZ 73-2published at 10 overs

    Target 389

Before New Zealand's chase started, we had a quick chat in the office about where they'd need to be after 10 overs to have a chance. I went for 90-1, so they've fallen short of that already.

At the same stage, Australia's ridiculousness got them to 118-0.

It was a nice catching height for Starc. New Zealand have not had a lot to cheer about, unless you are a fan of Glenn Phillips or a member of his family.

Josh Hazlewood has bowled well in games and not taken wickets. Today, he hasn't looked at his best, but taken wickets. Australia are right back on top.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.4 overs

    Young c Starc b Hazlewood 32 (NZ 72-1)

The classic four and out combo for Will Young.

He plays another lovely lofted drive over the bowler's head from the previous ball, only to nick off to the next. Mitchell Starc pouches a much easier catch at short third as Young pokes at a wide delivery from Hazlewood, who has both openers.

    New Zealand are in trouble.

  14. NZ 67-1published at 9 overs

    Target 389

Will Young cuts nicely off the back foot for four, but it comes either side of some precious dot balls from Glenn Maxwell.

The spinner whizzes through another neat over and New Zealand are stalling slightly.

    Target 389

Rachin Ravindra, one of the breakthrough stars of the World Cup so far, joins Will Young in the middle.

He's played some decent innings already but he'll have to play the innings of his life here if New Zealand are to even get close.

It wasn't a great delivery, but it's a great catch. This is a massive mountain New Zealand need to climb. Josh Hazlewood hasn't started well, but he'll take that.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.2 overs

    Conway c Starc b Hazlewood 28 (NZ 61-1)

    Huge wicket!

Devon Conway can't believe it. A rank ball from Josh Hazlewood is clipped off his hips, but from nowhere Slytherin's Mitchell Starc leaps full stretch and takes the catch low to the ground.

A swish of the bat from Conway as he departs and a promising opening stand is broken.

  19. Barresi and Ackermann departpublished at 15 overs

    Netherlands 64-4

    Wesley BarresiImage source, Getty Images

Wesley Barresi's entertaining cameo for the Netherlands comes to an end as departs for a run-a-ball 41.

The Dutchman attempts to wallop a slower ball from Mustafizur Rahman down the ground but he's through the shot way too early, finishing with one hand on the bat, and he skies it straight up in the air.

It comes down with snow it on but Shakib Al Hasan has a safe pair of hands and calmly pouches the catch.

Colin Ackermann, who had played a steady hand to this point, is also out next over for 15 to Shakib.

Ackermann tries to sweep Shakib round the corner only to top edge it to the hands of Mustafizur at short fine leg as he returns the favour for the Bangladesh skipper.
