He has given away his wicket! A case of the pressure getting to him, maybe.

Ibrahim c Karunaratne b Madushanka 39 (Afg 73-2)
Breakthrough! That's a big wicket for Sir Lanka, who have strangled the scoring in the last few overs and now the pressure has told.
It is a bit of a gift in truth as Ibrahim Zadran opens the face and looks to guide a short delivery over the slip region, but he gets too much on it and the ball flies safely into the hands of Dimuth Karunaratne at third man.

Afghanistan are well placed. In a run chase you just try to break it down into small passages then reset. From Sri Lanka's perspective here you think you need to put two wickets on top of that score.
Though they are suppressing the scoring Sri Lanka are not really threatening at the moment.
That said, at the same stage of their innings Sri Lanka were 71-1, which shows how evenly poised this match is.

100% agree Aatif. I am sure if the women had the same opportunities they would make some serious progress. The men's have gone from the lower leagues to the top and very quickly.

There's been a lot of attention on Afghanistan recently with their wins against England and Pakistan but it's sad in a way that they have this beautiful platform on the big stage, which they more than deserve, but at the same time the women's team are in a very difficult situation.
Many of them have taken political asylum in Australia. It's a difficult situation. Many teams don't want a bilateral series because of this. We know the men's players don't have control over this situation. It's unfortunate the women's team don't have that opportunity to flourish.
Rahmat Shah plays a lovely cut shot backward of square but some brilliant fielding on the rope by Charith Asalanka denies what looked a certain four for Afghanistan.
We haven't had a boundary since the 10th over.

Rahmat Shah need to be careful against Sri Lanka's spinners because he doesn't bat very deep in his crease. He often drags his foot outside and has already been stumped in this tournament.
Four more singles off Maheesh Theekshana's latest over.
The dew looks to be having an impact now, though it doesn't seem as heavy as it was in Lucknow during the India-England game on Sunday.

There was some swing early on for Sri Lanka but under the night sky the ball is sliding on. These two batters are class players. Rahmat Shah is the Rolls Royce of Afghanistan batting, easy on the eye and can through the gears smoothly. Ibrahim Zadran is the new kid on the block, and extremely talented player.
Four runs off Dushmantha Chameera's latest over, including a well-run two off a push into the vacant square leg region.
Afghanistan are known for their explosive hitting at the top of the order but they are showing great control and patience here, just like they did in their win over Pakistan earlier in the tournament.
Maheesh Theekshana is not really threatening as Afghanistan milk four singles, with a wide chucked in for good measure.
It all feels very comfortable.

You don't need to get off to a flying start with totals like this, just keep accumulating, and resist in the early phase chasing when you could get yourself into trouble.

Afghanistan have confidence after beating England and Pakistan. They beat the latter of those two they were chasing so that should give them belief in this situation because it's a total which is more than chase-able. There could still be some twists and turns.
Target 242
Just the single off Dushmantha Chameera's latest over. With the platform set Afghanistan do not have to take any risks just yet.
Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood is looking very serious as he makes some notes before nodding at something shown to him on a laptop.
I'm guessing it showed something a little more advanced than 'take some wickets'.

Because the outfield is so quick you know as a batter you are searching for power. You don't need to plant your foot and throw the kitchen sink at it. Actually you rewarded for just timing the ball.
Thanks, Sam.
After the worst possible start to their innings things are now looking good for Afghanistan, with some some absolutely delicious cover and on drives helping set a handy platform.
However, a few quick wickets and it could be all change.
Target 242
Time for some spin. Here's Maheesh Theekshana.
He can't stop the flow of boundaries, though, a Ibrahim Zadran just pushes a drive through the cover, picking the gap perfectly and the timing is such that the ball runs all the way for four.
A single brings the 50 up for Afghanistan and that's the end of the powerplay.
It's time for me to depart so I'll leave you in the ever capable hands of Tom Mallows.

Afghanistan look in control but there is still a long way to go. Sri Lanka came into the tournament without key players, and have lost others to injury, so they perhaps don't have the personnel to put the pressure on their opponents.
Target 242
Much better from Dushmantha Chameera after that boundary, hitting a good length and holding a line around off.
Ultimately though, it's a familiar story in this innings. A generally good over spoilt somewhat by a boundary ball.
