  1. Afg 44-1published at 8.2 overs

    Target 242

Angelo Mathews' spell ends at one over and Dushmantha Chameera is on.

He got some pace and shows it first ball, sending a sharp delivery whistling past the bat of Ibrahim Zadran.

Fats next ball, too, but on the pads and Zadran flicks it through square leg for four.

If Afghanistan bat through the 50 overs you feel they will probably win the match. It's not a particularly daunting total. Sri Lanka are under a bit of pressure now.

  3. Afg 40-1published at 8 overs

    Target 242

    Effortless from Rahmat Shah.

Full and on the pads from Kasun Rajitha and Rahmat steps into it, lifting the ball over mid-wicket for four with ease.

That's a sign of Ibrahim Zadran's class. Because he plays it so late he can really flick the wrists. He timed it sweetly.

  5. Afg 36-1published at 7 overs

    Target 242

    Excellent timing from Ibrahim Zadran.

He's up on his tip-toes and punches the ball off the back foot through the covers for four.

An expensive first over from Angelo Mathews.

Shot of the day? It's certainly up there from Rahmat Shah...

Whenever there has been a little bit of width offered Afghanistan have cashed in. There is a balance between getting the ball to swing, on a tempting length, but if you get it a fraction wrong both players have made the bowlers pay.

  8. Afg 31-1published at 6.1 overs

    Target 242

    Four more.

Angelo Mathews into the attack but the runs keep coming. Rahmat Shah just leans on this one and sends it through the off side to the boundary.

Afghanistan are going along very nicely now.

  9. 6 runs

    Afg 27-1published at 6 overs

    Target 242

Six! Brilliantly picked up by Ibrahim Zadran to send the ball flying over fine leg and into the stand.

It's another good over ruined by a last-ball boundary as Kusan Rajitha loses his line and Zadran whips the full, leg-side delivery away.

Here and there it's essential to surprise the batters with a short ball every now and then because the batters will just plant their front foot and wait. Overall the bowling has been pretty good from Sri Lanka so far. The lengths have been good - right on the money - but we've also seen some good shots.

  11. Afg 20-1published at 5 overs

    Target 242

Another over ends with a boundary as Sri Lanka's bowlers go in search of wickets.

Dilshan Madushanka pushes this one too full and wide of off, allowing Rahmat Shah to drive through the covers for four.

Dilshan Madushanka is coming on to bowl his third over.

He struck in his first, bowling Rahmanullah Gurbaz with a beauty...

How good was that from Rahmat Shah? If you played 10 replays of the cover drive, you would play 20 of this. Such a difficult shot to a swinging ball. Excellent batting.

  14. Afg 14-1published at 4 overs

    Target 242

Four more and it's another superb shot.

This time it's Rahmat Shah with fantastically-timed flick through mid-wicket after Kasun Rajitha overpitches.

Afghanistan might just be starting to settle into this chase.

Ibrahim Zadran is in good form with the bat for Afghanistan. He batted beautifully in the previous match against Pakistan with a crucial 87 in that victory. Sri Lanka know they need early wickets and give it their all while the ball is still swinging.

  16. Afg 9-1published at 3 overs

    Target 242

Smart fielding and some good bowling again from Dilshan Madushanka makes it five dot balls to start an over again.

However, there's width on offer to finish and Ibrahim Zadran slaps the ball through the covers for four.

Top shot. That was past the in-field before they could move.

  17. Afg 5-1published at 2 overs

    Target 242

Kasun Rajitha takes the new ball from the other end and he's finding a bit of swing.

After five dot balls, the last shapes away but it's a touch too full and Ibrahim Zadran pushes it through the covers for three.

It was a wonderful delivery from Dilshan Madushanka but Rahmanullah Gurbaz was a little bit across the line so his bat could not come down straight, but across the body instead, and that's where the gap was created. He played a brilliant knock of 65 against Pakistan but it's a different day. The perfect start for Sri Lanka.

  19. Afg 2-1published at 1 over

    Target 242

Just a pair of singles from the Dilshan Madushanka over.

He's been excellent with the new ball in this tournament and has got Sri Lanka off to the ideal start again.
