We have seen Mahmudullah's power this World Cup when he scored that century against South Africa, but this game today on this pitch is all about touch.

Short and it beats the fielder, Wasim, he's not having a great day.

Bangladesh are recovering here. It's seventh versus ninth so not exactly a clash of the titans but there are Champions Trophy places at stake.

  6. Ban 81-3published at 18 overs

Liton Das brings out that cut shot again as he cashes on to a short ball from Usama Mir and arrows it the fence.

Das has 38 from 56 balls.

A relatively free-flowing innings from Mahmudullah who has 32 off 35 balls so far., too.

Here's a lovely square drive off Shaheen Afridi from a little while ago.

  7. Ban 75-3published at 17 overs

A little bit short and wide from Mohammad Wasim with his second ball of the over and Liton Das' eyes light up as he cuts it behind point for four. Clinical.

Liton Das decides to go down town to Usama Mir's second delivery but he does not quite time it.

We have seen this so often from Pakistan. They have these flashes of brilliance during the game, but when they are put under a bit of pressure their heads start to drop and it all gets pretty flat out there in the field.

If Babar Azam had a pep talk with his bowlers at drinks break it has done the job.

Mohammad Wasim with a maiden over.

However, since we're India for this World Cup, I'll kick us off with a pun: Sourav Gan-Ghouly.

Bangladesh are just knocking it around nicely here.

  15. Ban 61-3published at 13 overs

Mohammad Wasim continues despite a poor first over. This time he's a bit more disciplined but Mahmudullah and Liton Das able to farm the strike and use his pace to work the ball into the gaps.

    Five singles from the over.

  16. Ban 58-3published at 12 overs

Usama Mir, who had a nasty cut on his hand earlier after a diving stop, is into the attack for Pakistan but does not cause too many problems for this Bangladesh pair.

His penultimate ball is crashed through the covers by Mahmudullah who has played quite fluently having been handed a chance higher up the order today.

The run-rate is 4.72 at the moment.

  17. Ban 48-3published at 11 overs

Liton Das and Mahmudullah take a bit of a shine to Mohammad Wasim.

Das cuts Wasim's second ball superbly through backward point, then Mahmudullah stylishly drives the final delivery of the over through the covers.

It has been just so down and out for Pakistan so far this tournament. I've not seen a Pakistan team play like this in white-ball cricket for a long time.

That early India defeat definitely left mental scarring, it's got to hurt.

  19. Ban 37-3published at 10 overs

A tight over from Haris Rauf as Liton Das plays cautiously. Just a single off it.

Bangladesh have a bit of a job on their hands to post something competitive. They were easily beaten by the Netherlands here in Kolkata in their previous match at Eden Gardens.

These balls have an extra layer of lacquer on which means they do swing around in these first few overs, which Shaheen is an excellent exponent of.

But the square is very dry and very abrasive, so it won't swing around for too long.
