    Drinks.

By the way, I learned today (from Countdown's Suzie Dent on X, formerly Twitter) that the ‘h’ in ‘ghost‘ is a historical hiccup. William Caxton, having first practised his trade in Flanders, brought Flemish typesetters back to England to help set up his printing press - they lobbed an ‘h’ into English ‘gost’ because their own native word was ‘gheest’.

Impress your friends and family with that one.

And on that Halloween nugget I'll hand over to Tom Mallows to see you through to the finish.

  2. Iftikhar not outpublished at 29 overs

    Indeed he is.

Iftikhar Ahmed follows it up with a thump through extra cover for four.

There's no excitement out there. I'm a bit surprised the umpires have even called for this.

  4. Umpire reviewpublished at 28.4 overs

A brisk single from Muhammad Rizwan and there's a direct hit at the striker's end. Iftikhar Ahmed looks safe.

  5. Pak 179-3published at 28.3 overs

Filthy from Muhammad Rizwan as a thick edge from a big slog goes over the head of Bangladesh wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim and away for four.

Next ball he connects, though, with a bottom-handed biff - Lance Klusner esque - which seemed to travel about an inch off the ground all the way to the fence.

Fakhar will be disappointed with that, it was a little flatter so he could only pick out the fielder.

But he had to back himself though, he has already hit seven sixes.

    That's a shame, Fakhar deserved a hundred.

    Fahkar c Hridoy b Miraz 81 (Pak 169-3)

...but I spoke too soon as Mehidy Miraz has Fahkar Zaman caught in the deep!

It's another slog sweep, down on knee, only this time the Pakistan opener finds Towhid Hridoy, on the move at deep mid-wicket, and he gobbles up the catch.

  9. Pak 169-2published at 27.2 overs

Fahkar Zaman has pumped Mehidy Miraz for a few sixes this evening...

Thanks for all your contributions to our Halloween cricketers, today. We've compiled our favourite XI in batting order.

Reckon that side would do fairly well in this World Cup. They'd win more games than England, anyway.

Slim pickings on the wickets front for Bangladesh. Here's how Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique was lbw a little while back.

That's a brave shot first ball. Rizwan had that bat down in a flash.

  14. Pak 165-2published at 26 oivers

Muhammad Rizwan gets down and slog sweeps his first ball from Mehidy Miraz for four.

    No messing about.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25.4 overs

    Babar c Mahmudullah b Miraz 9 (Pak 160-2)

    Not Babar Azam's night.

Mehidy Miraz gives it some air and the Pakistan captain advances down the track but cannot get the distance required.

It dips just before the boundary and into the hands of Mahmudullah.

Fahkar Zaman is in the mood tonight. Another awesome hit.

  18. 6 runs

    Pak 159-1published at 25.1 overs

Bangladesh have just fed Fahkar Zaman - and his appetite for runs is insatiable.

Mehidy Miraz gives it plenty of revs but Fahkar slog sweeps him high into the night at Eden Gardens for another towering six.

  19. Pak 153-1published at 25 overs

Babar Azam playing Mustafizur Rahman like he's having a net in the middle. No semblance of worry in his strokeplay.

He takes a single off the penultimate ball only for a leading edge off the bat of Fahkar Zaman to give him the strike.

At the halfway point Pakistan are in cruise control.

This is what Pakistan have been missing all along. The tempo in the middle overs. Not just pushing up and down and losing momentum. Capitalising on anything that is slightly too full.

It was well calculated, going to the shorter boundary. A powerful but technically sound stroke.
