Shubman Gill really with crossed-batted heave and away it goes.
India are making hay in the heat of Mumbai.
Ind 117-1
Shubman Gill brings up his half-century in style, thumping Hemantha down the ground as the spinner bravely floats one up to him.
A reminder that he was dropped on eight...

You know it's warm when the four and six signs are being used as sun protectors.
Kohli 52, Gill 48
Shubman Gill is going to up the tempo now, which is rather concerning for Sri Lanka because they're already going at more than six an over relatively easily.
He slices a drive high into the air but again gets some fortune, the ball landing safely between three fielders in the outfield.

That was short and wide. It had to be put away, really.
In the air... but four. Too short from Rajitha and it flies over point.

Virat Kohli now has 118 scores of 50 or more in ODI cricket, putting him level with Kumar Sangakkara. Top of the list is Sachin Tendulkar on 145.

You could see it when Virat Kohli celebrated his 50 there. He is one of the fittest cricketers around and even he looked tired.
That over also sees the 100 partnership come up between Gill and Kohli.
Sri Lanka are in all sorts of trouble. Nothing looks threatening and their bowl-first strategy is not paying off. It's also baking hot and they are chasing the ball all over the place.

That will get all of the applauses around the ground from everyone who came to watch Virat Kohli bat.
Ind 102-1
Ah, that is criminal from the leg-spinner. He oversteps, gifting Virat Kohi a free hit, which he takes two from and brings up his half-century.
Cue crowd chaos. This is what they came to see.

It's like a Roger Federer forehand smash and that is a statement shot.

That reminds me of the kind of shot Kevin Pietersen would play.
Oh, glorious.
Virat Kohli starts the over with a straight drive for four, followed by Shubman Gill stealing his thunder completely by entering T20 mode.
A skip, a smash and a four through the covers. That was quite special.
Dilshan Madushanka looks stunned, it was a good length delivery on off stump that has been absolutely clattered.

That is a ripper, it's not far away at all.
Dushan Hemantha, the leg-spinner, resumes proceedings after drinks.
And he beats Virat Kohli with a beauty that rips past his outside edge and into the keeper's gloves, just millimetres from clipping the top of off stump.
Hemantha can't believe that has missed. A lovely start.
Right, back to the openers to try and get another breakthrough.
Dilshan Madushanka gets one full and straight, pins Gill on the pads but it's going way down the leg side. A swing and a miss from Gill ends the over but he gets away with that one, too.
Time for a drink.

It's absolutely roasting out there, why would you want to go and spend three or four hours out there in the heat of the day?
There's a gift of a boundary on offer pretty much every over at the moment.
Maheesh Theekshana is clipped for four with ease by Shubman Gill, before a crisp cover drive brings him two more. A costly over, 10 from it.
I feel like we are going to spend quite a lot of today questioning why Sri Lanka chose to bowl first.
