    It's Moeen-Rashid again!

Inglis goes to reverse pop Rashid - he's hit in hard but Moeen Ali's at backward point, he takes the catch in front of his face with a little spring to his right.

There will be people asking if Australia can win a World Cup with Smith and Labuschagne in the same team. If Head or Warner were still in, Australia would have 40 extra runs by now.

  6. Aus 117-3published at 23 overs

Three singles off Moeen Ali's third over, with the England spinner seemingly getting into his groove now.

  8. Aus 114-3published at 22 overs

Josh Inglis is next in for Australia, with Glenn Maxwell absent thanks to his golf cart induced concussion.

He takes a single into the covers from his first delivery.

A key breakthrough, it's the googly. This is England's chance to put the squeeze on now. They've got the spinners on against the middle order, which is without that great player of spin Glenn Maxwell.

  11. wicket

    Smith c Moeen b Rashid 44 (Aus 113-3)

Smith goes! Just as this partnership was looking a little worrying!

He tries to cut Adil Rashid delicately but the ball takes a top edge and loops up for a diving Moeen Ali, taking the catch at a relatively short backward point.

    A crucial wicket for England.

I think Australia have set out to target Moeen Ali.

That's just wide of mid-off from Steve Smith. Were there finger tips on that? He scolds himself,. Smith points down the ground where he wanted to hit that ball. He's not happy.

  14. Aus 111-2published at 21 overs

    Oooh, is that a chance?

Steven Smith drives Moeen Ali uppishly - Chris Woakes dives to his right at mid-off and it just brushes the end of his fingertips on the way to the boundary.

This partnership is now worth 73.

Pakistan need to chase that 400 in about 35 overs to go above New Zealand on net run-rate. Fakhar Zaman could do that, in fairness.

  16. Aus 101-2published at 20 overs

Two new bowlers for England as Adil Rashid follows Moeen Ali in bowling his first over of the match.

Tighter though from Rashid, just three singles. Smith brings up the Australian century with a push to long on.

That's 10 runs off Moeen Ali's first six balls - that is the kind of over this partnership needed. This is a key period with Adil Rashid into the attack - he always seems to do pretty well against Australia,

  18. New Zealand strike early v Pakistanpublished at 10:04 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2023

    Pak 6-1 (2 overs, target 402)

Pakistan needed something special to chase this enormous New Zealand target but instead, that something special has come from Kane Williamson.

Abdullah Shafique was trying to release the pressure after a tidy start from Trent Boult and Tim Southee. A skewed drive and the ball flies high in the air, where Williamson runs backwards from mid-off and puts in a full-stretch dive to take a very difficult catch.

Captain Babar Azam is in early with Fakhar Zaman.

You can find the scorecard and listen to radio commentary of that game here.

  19. Aus 98-2published at 19 overs

Well, I'm not sure if Australia's batters have TMS in their ears, but they seem to have responded to the lamentations from our commentators.

Labuschagne and Smith take a four apiece from the bowling of Moeen Ali, the former with an edge but the latter with a nice little late cut.

Labuschagne took a risky single to bring Smith on strike, could have been tight for a diving Smith had Buttler taken the ball cleanly.

The score predictor says 296 and I think Australia would snap your hand off for that at the moment. Australia are just under five an over but it has been slower in the last few overs. This partnership is just building but they need it to go a lot longer. Australia cannot afford to restart again, especially on a pitch like this.
