Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan: "When I won the toss I did have any hesitation in choosing to bowl first. We knew there was a lot of dew so wanted to capitalise on that.

"But we still had to bat well. When you are not playing well, 280 looks a big total. Luckily we had a big partnership, myself and Shanto applied ourselves really well. We would have liked to have finished it earlier but a win's a win and it will give us confidence."

On the Angelo Mathews dismissal: "One of our fielders came to me and said if you appeal now he will be out. I appealed and the umpire asked me if I was serious, whether I would take it back or not. I said no. If it is in the rules then it is out and that is exactly what happened.

"It is in the Laws. I don't know if it it is right or wrong. But I feel like I was here to work, so had to make sure my team wins so whatever I needed to do I had to do it.

"Right or wrong there will be debates. But if it is within the rules I don't mind taking those chances.

"I thought it [the dismissal] helped in a way. It gave me more fight. I won't deny that."

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis: "Charith Asalanka played a brilliant innings but I think we were 30-40 runs short. I think around 320 would have been enough on this wicket.

"I am happy that Pathum [Nissanka], Sadeera [Samarawickrama] and Dilshan [Madushanka] and a good few young players are coming through. I am happy that we have shown some promise in this tournament and in the future we'll have a very good team to show promise.

"When we were coming into the tournament we had a couple of injuries to a couple of important players and that is why we've had newcomers in the team. We've also made a few mistakes in all departments and if we'd played better cricket we would have had a better chance of getting into the final four."

On Angelo Mathews' dismissal: "It is very disappointing that when Angelo came into the crease there were like five seconds left for him to be ready and he found out that his helmet strap came out. It was an equipment failure so I'm disappointed that the umpires couldn't react there and apply common sense. It is unfortunate that it happened during a crucial time. We expected Angelo to come in and score some runs for it and it disappointing that the umpires couldn't step in and make good decisions at that time."

Here is the winning moment as Bangladesh secured their second victory of the tournament.

It means England are the only side on two points and have a real fight on their hands if they are to finish in the top eight and qualify for the Champions Trophy.

Who wrote the script for today? There has been a lot of PR around the rivalry between these teams but it boiled over. It might just be the one cricketing rivalry that isn't geopolitical.

I don't think timeouts are something that crosses your mind when you're out on the field. You are concentrating on the skill element of the game and getting a batter out that way.

It just looked like it played out because nobody really took accountability for what was happening.

Player of the match, Bangldeash's Shakib Al Hasan on taking the wickets of Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama: "They are two important players. I am lucky to get these wickets."

On Bangladesh's performance: "There wasn't much for the bowlers. We bowled really well upfront. The spinners kept it tight, it wasn't easy for them as they were short boundaries.

"Bowling is the part we feel wins us more matches. We bowled really well up to the World Cup, we couldn't really live up to our expectations, but we know we can fight back. We had that mentality in ourselves, kept believing and today it paid off.

"The ground dimensions help batting. There is a lot of pace on the ball. So that was in my mind and luckily it came off and I never looked back."

We have seen images of the Sri Lanka coaching staff in the dugout shaking hands with the Bangladesh players, but the Sri Lanka players are nowhere to be seen.

Sri Lanka look to have lost their heads after the Angelo Mathews dismissal and never regained their focus.
