You can always rely on Mitchell Santner to steady things. He twirls through his first over going for just one.

This match has been as frantic as the Tottenham v Chelsea and Copenhagen v Man United football matches in recent days.

Sri Lanka's ODI powerplay score of 74-5 is the highest in an ODI powerplay from a side that has lost five or more wickets, where the match has not had reduced overs.
Kusal Perera's fifty after 8.3 overs was the earliest half-century in a World Cup match.
Glenn Phillips produces some of his trademark brilliance, probably saving two boundaries with his dives at backward point, but can't save the four that Mathews pulls quickly down to fine leg, using all of Lockie Ferguson's pace.
It's calmed down slightly from the powerplay, but that's not exactly hard.
Amid Sri Lanka's madness, New Zealand have just gone about their business. Trent Boult has 3-30, including this smart review.

You feel that Mathews is going to play the mature knock, just try and hit the bad balls for four.
I think Sri Lanka are overtaking Pakistan as the most unpredictable team. It's either magical or messy, there is no in between.
We've had 13 fours, two sixes and five wickets in the space of 11 overs, as Angelo Mathews carves Trent Boult through the covers for another boundary.

That is one of the more dramatic powerplays we have ever had.
Dhananjaya de Silva whacks his second ball for four, of course he does.
That powerplay was absolutely bonkers.

This Sri Lanka team ceases to amaze me every time we watch them.
It was a very entertaining 51 but surely Sri Lanka need some solidity now, having seen five wickets fall in the first nine overs?
Saying that, they're so unpredictable. Angelo Mathews could just whack a 15-ball half-century from here and I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Ferguson teased Perera with a fuller ball, he couldn't resist taking it on and the pace takes it up in the air.

Perera went for the big old smash and Kane Williamson almost got in way, didn't quite, but Santner takes the catch. The insanity of this game continues.
Perera c Santner b Ferguson 51 (SL 70-5)
The chaos continues.
A huge wicket for New Zealand as Kusal Perera departs just after reaching his half-century.
His fun comes to an end with an almighty slog high into the air that sees a bit of indecision between Kane Williamson and Mitchell Santner about who should catch it, but the latter gets there in the end.
Sri Lanka needed some calmness from their opener there, but instead he just adds to their carnage.

You would think Angelo Mathews will dig his heels in and try and bat this out a bit.
Trent Boult calms the chaos with a wicket maiden.
Sri Lanka's run rate is very decent but four wickets down already leaves them in big trouble.
Brilliant from Angelo Mathews.
He makes his way to the middle very quickly, signalling that his helmet is firmly in place, and shares a giggle with Kane Williamson.
Asalanka lbw b Boult 8 (SL 70-4)
Great review!
You can see why the umpire gave it not out - the ball hit both pads which made it seem like there was an inside edge.
But it's going on to hit middle stump and Boult has his third. Sri Lanka just need someone to stay with Kusal Perera here.
It's all happening.
Trent Boult thinks he has Charith Asalanka lbw. It's a decent shout, the ball nipping back in sharply.
Has he hit it? Boult's appeal is very intimidating, staring at the umpire and pointing directly at him. He's unmoved though, so Kane Williamson sends it upstairs.
