  1. SL 124-8published at 27 overs

Santner has figures of 2-19 off his eight overs, a brilliant return. However, nine of them have just come from this over. A potential blow to any World Cup economic bowling type records.

Lockie Ferguson will continue at the other end, having been really on the money in recent overs.

I have a feeling Sri Lanka are playing with a certain freedom and maybe a little frustration. There is a certain cricket cloud over them, with the timed out incident the other day.

  3. SL 123-8published at 26.2 overs

Another four from Theekshana, passing into double figures having hardly scored so far.

This time, Santner's delivery is dispatched with an excellent cover drive. Four more for Sri Lanka.

  4. SL 119-8published at 26.1 overs

    Not over just yet!

Santner's first ball of the over is slogged by Theekshana, who after a very conservative start to his innings, has decided to take on Santner, thumping it for four.

It's an incredible luck of the draw for New Zealand, if you think about it right now.

  6. SL 115-8published at 26 overs

If you are New Zealand, there probably aren't many better chances for them to seal the final semi-final spot than facing a struggling Sri Lanka in their final group game, knowing a win of any kind would near enough do the job.

Winning the toss also went in their favour, combined with some excellent bowling and some poor Sri Lanka batting.

One run comes from the over from Lockie Ferguson, with Sri Lanka scoring just four runs off the last five overs.

Glenn Phillips is fielding from his knees. He's trying to get those low balls but is tumbling like a toddler in a ball pool.

  8. SL 114-8published at 25 overs

Some entertaining fielding from Glenn Phillips, who spent a few balls of that Mitchell Santner over fielding on his knees in a sort of short gully position.

In fairness, it almost led to taking the catch of Chameera.

Santner goes for just one run again, with figures of 2-10 off seven overs so far. Superb work.

The rapidity of this victory for New Zealand is significant.

  10. SL 113-8published at 24 overs

Back-to-back maidens for Lockie Ferguson, with his latest including that wicket of Karunaratne.

New Zealand did have two reviews to hand, so they still have one in the bank. It's highly unlikely it will prove to be costly, but at least New Zealand are in a position where they can laugh about it.

Kane Williamson is covering his face and laughing into his hand. Embarrassment. That was a honking review.

  12. Not outpublished at 23.4 overs

A very thick inside edge from Chameera onto his own pads. My word, that is a terrible review.

  13. New Zealand reviewpublished at 23.4 overs

New Zealand take a lbw review upstairs after much protesting from Mitchell, who thinks Chameera could be gone lbw first ball.

Diving forward, with a great low catch for New Zealand!

    Karunaratne c Latham b Ferguson 6 (SL 113-8)

    That's another gone!

A fuller ball from Lockie Ferguson finds the outside edge of Karunaratne's bat and it's a well-taken low catch from Tom Latham behind the stumps.

Ferguson has two, New Zealand have eight and Sri Lanka's turmoil continues.

  17. SL 113-7published at 23 overs

Theekshana has faced 20 balls, which is pretty good going compared to some of his colleagues today. However, he has just two runs to his name.

For Sri Lanka's own sake, you feel their only chance of winning today will be if they can salvage some kind of respectable score out of this innings, barring a remarkable performance with the ball.

Theekshana has been one of Sri Lanka's better batters in this World Cup.

  19. SL 112-7published at 22 overs

Not much of a fight in that over from Sri Lanka, with Ferguson coming through it without troubling the scorers.

On 112, Kusal Perera's 51 still represents a very large portion of Sri Lanka's innings so far
