Australia should take comfort in the fact that England (despite many other flaws), bowled and fielded well against India, who struggled batting first.

Australia's decision to bowl first is looking even more bewildering.

  3. Ind 54-1published at 7 overs

Three overs left in the powerplay and, so far, Pat Cummins' decision to bowl first doesn't look a great one.

There's plenty of time for that to change but Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both look in magnificent touch.

The response to each of these boundaries is just wild celebration with arms and flags waving around in the air.

Too early to say it's getting ugly for Australia?

Just look how far Kohli is out of his crease. That is remarkable to someone of Mitchell Starc's pace.

    Shot of the day.

  6. Ind 52-1published at 6.3 overs

Four more! It's three in a row and that is the best of the lot.

Full, just outside off and Virat Kohli drives gloriously through extra cover.

The crowd love that. It's hard not to, it's a shot of real class.

Mitchell Starc is looking for his magic delivery, his full and swinging one that we have seen get the better of so many batters. It looked catchable for a second but Virat Kohli is in such good form.

  8. Ind 48-1published at 6.2 overs

Virat Kohli has the crowd on their feet with back-to-back boundaries to start Mitchell Starc's latest.

He whips the ball up and over mid-on for the first first of them before guiding the next past backward point. All timing because he barely seemed to hit that one.

Am I the only Englishman who really wants to see an Australia victory today? India too interested in how many centuries Kohli can make than ensuring victory.

When you see players score quickly in the powerplay, it is often very frenetic and you feel like it will eventually come to an end. But Rohit Sharma is so relaxed, he is very calculated in his attacks and he always looks in such control.

After two expensive overs to start, Josh Hazlewood comes back with an over much more like what we have come to expect from him.

Just three singles from it. Rohit Sharma had very clearly targeted him early but couldn't get him away in this one.

This could be a key battle in the game - Josh Hazlewood v Virat Kohli.

The Australian seamer has dismissed him five times for 51 runs in eight ODIs. If he gets him again, that might take the wind out of the sails of this crowd - at least for a minute or two.

I've got my hands on my head. I'm in disbelief. We've seen a wicket fall in this over and yet he's just thrashed Mitchell Starc, known for being so dangerous in the powerplay, over his head for six.

The wicket won't deter Rohit Sharma. He will just keep going and going.

Take a moment to regroup after losing a wicket? Nah, not if you're Rohit Sharma.

Virat Kohli takes a single to hand the strike back to his skipper and Rohit proceeds to nail the ball high over long-off for another big six!

    He is feeling it today.

Shubman Gill wasn't allowed much of the strike so there was a sense that he was desperate for his first boundary.

Australia were searching for that wicket slightly, just starting to go a bit flat and that has given them a big lift.

It brings King Kohli in, he has been in fantastic form but I don't think Australia will mind having him in this early.

An innocuous shot but he didn't look comfortable. He was very cramped for room and that will give Australia a much-needed boost.

Pulled to mid-on! Breakthrough for Australia!

Shubman Gill is cramped for room by Mitchell Starc as he tried to thump the ball through the leg-side.

He doesn't time it well at all and the ball goes tamely to Adam Zampa. A straightforward catch to momentarily silence the crowd.

There is a clear plan to target Josh Hazlewood. He has been Australia's best bowler so far with his consistency.

Rohit Sharma is forcing him away from what he wants to do, and making him to go his variations early.
