That sounded absolutely perfect the moment it left the bat. That's caused a frenzy.
Rohit Sharma's intentions are absolutely clear.

Rohit Sharma's intentions are absolutely clear.
Rohit Sharma very nearly picked out Travis Head at deep square leg with a pull shot early in the over.
He is completely unfazed by it, though, and repeats the shot a few balls later. It makes a wonderful sound off the bat this time and sails over deep mid-wicket for six - the first of this final.
Four more! Rohit advances to the last and muscles it past mid-on for four.
Who'll be lifting this later?

The early signs are that if the India batters are going to get out, they're going to get out on their own terms - and by playing their shots.
Shubman Gill drives nicely later in the Mitchell Starc over and the ball bursts through the hands of the fielder at cover.
The pace is taken off the ball but the India openers are still able to get back for two.
Three overs in and the excitement in the crowd has not diminished a jot.
Edged... but just short of slip!
Shubman Gill has been made to wait to face his first ball so perhaps the nerves just built and he rather hangs the bat at this delivery from Mitchell Starc.
He's grateful that the ball didn't carry and it even gets past the fielder to allow them a single.

I do think it's a chasing ground. We haven't seen loads of dew in the tournament but on this ground, we've seen it more than most.
But I do think it's a negative mindset from Australia. If they have any doubt, any fear, any concerns about the pitch which has led to this call to bowl first, they are going to get absolutely hammered.

England v New Zealand and India v Pakistan were both won by the chasing teams here. England v Australia should have been had England not messed it up.
The 2023 IPL was won in a chase at this stadium too.

Oh, he is very lucky that missed the stumps. A wild, wild slog.
Oh dear. That is not pretty.
Josh Hazlewood continues to hit a good line and length and Rohit Sharma swings and misses with a horrible swipe aimed leg side.
That was very close to off stump. A bit of a let off for Rohit.
Four more!
Nowhere near as controlled from Rohit Sharma this time. A bit of a hoick to leg from the India skipper, not hit cleanly but it runs away to the boundary sponge.
Josh Hazlewood under pressure early.

Josh Hazlewood's success has come from his metronomic line and length so it's a very good move from Rohit Sharma to use his feet and try and throw him off that.

Is it possible for someone to metaphorically ‘drop the World Cup’ at the toss? Feel like that’s exactly what Cummins has just done.

A wonderful stroke. Rohit Sharma is so relaxed, so casual when he is batting but there is so much power.
He's got very quick feet, he wouldn't look out of place on Strictly Come Dancing with that.
More fantastic fielding from Australia. This time it is Adam Zampa racing around from deep third to prevent a boundary after a thick edge from Rohit Sharma.
There's no stopping that, though! Rohit skips down the track to Josh Hazlewood and smokes the ball through the covers for four.

Australia's fielding saves them so many runs. They were magnificent against South Africa and it helped them build so much pressure.
It is a very important part of their game.
They gave taken a gamble at the toss and need to take early wickets to justify it. If they don't, their job is going to be very difficult.

The field is quite telling. They have got a very clear plan to Rohit Sharma, it is very interesting.
Rohit Sharma guides the ball through backward point for the first runs of this final but a good stop in the deep means he has to settle for two.
The India captain then drives handsomely to end the over but an excellent diving stop from Pat Cummins keeps him to a single.

It is feverish out there. The noise is something else.

Big shout from Mitchell Starc but I think he was just releasing some tension. There is some swing out there.
