  2. WI 117-3published at 12.2 overs

Sam Curran mops his brow, and makes a few tweaks to the field before he prepares to enter the fray.

He's another bowler searching for a bit of form with the ball.

A bottom-handed slog from Nicholas Pooran to his second ball but finds the fielder at cow corner.

  3. 6 runs

    WI 115-3published at 12 overs

The joy of six for West Indies as Liam Livingstone is dispatched into the stands two balls in succession by Rovman Powell.

Twice the West Indies skipper goes down on knee and generates the power to biff Livingstone down town.

    Brutal and explosive hitting.

  4. 6 runs

    WI 97-3published at 11 overs

Gus Atkinson pumped for another six. Similar shot from the left-handed Nicholas Pooran this time as he swivels on his heels and whips Atkinson's fourth ball over the boundary at deep square.

West Indies are flying after those early wickets.

  5. 6 runs

    WI 87-3published at 10.1 overs

Gus Atkinson had a chastening day in the final ODI against West Indies and this is looking like another tough day for the England paceman.

Rovman Powell picks up the length of a short ball quickly and heaves him square for a monster six.

That's sailed on to the grass banking over the boundary.

  6. drinks break

West Indies 81-3 at drinkspublished at 10 overs

Rovman Powell picks up a boundary from the penultimate ball of Adil Rashid's second over courtesy of a powerful slog sweep.

Time for a bit of liquid refreshment.

  7. WI 75-3published at 9.3 overs

Adil Rashid, a blue cloth dangling down from the front of his blue trousers, works through his routine of variations.

His third ball is a googly to Rovman Powell who doesn't pick it and inside edges it, quite fortunate not to be bowled through the gate.

  8. WI 73-3published at 9 overs

Rovman Powell goes on the attack again, pulling Tymal Mills. It's coming down with snow on right on the rope where Gus Atkinson is stationed.

The England bowler times his jump well and, like a skilled volleyball player, manages to push it back over the boundary line without his feet touching the ground to prevent the six.

That will lift England in the field.

  9. WI 67-3published at 8.3 overs

The glistening shaven headed dome of Tymal Mill, already looking moist with sweat,

He bangs his second ball into the pitch and is pulled by Rovman Powell but the boundary sweeper cuts it off.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.4 overs

    Hope c Salt b Rashid 26 (WI 62-3)

Adil Rashid into the attack for England and gets rid of dangerman Shai Hope.

Just enough flight from the leg-spinner and Hope cannot resist a slog sweep. He times it well enough but it's come off the toe of the bat, rather than the middle, and he cannot quite get the elevation to clear the fielder in the deep.

Phil Salt is at cow corner and takes a decent catch above his head. Rashid celebrates by politely applauding to himself.

  11. 6 runs

    WI 61-2published at 7 overs

Liam Livingstone will bowl his mix of leggies and offies to the left-right combination of Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran.

It matters little to Pooran, who dismissively biffs another huge six over long on from Livingstone's second ball.

  12. WI 52-2published at 6 overs

Reece Topley's savvy bowling continues after the blitz of boundaries off Gus Atkinson. The left-arm seamer, who limped out of the World Cup last month you will remember, concedes five off the over to wrestle things back for England.

Toppley has 1-14 from his three overs so far.

  13. 6 runs

    WI 47-2published at 5 overs

Nicholas Pooran gets in on the act with back-to-back boundaries in what is a looking a tricky opening spell from a glum-faced Gus Atkinson, recalled today, who sees his first over disappear for 18.

Pooran thumps Atkinson's third ball over mid-on for four then follows it up by pulling the England pace bowler over the fence at deep mid-wicket.

A good counterattack by the hosts.

  14. 6 runs

    WI 35-2published at 4.1 overs

Shai Hope is a lovely clean striker of a cricket ball isn't he?

Gus Atkinson into the attack and the West Indies batter effortlessly dispatches his first ball for six over the boundary at long on.

  15. WI 29-2published at 4 overs

Reece Topley is still finding a bit of swing on what David Gower has said on the television commentary is a "hot and humid day" in Grenada.

Topley is a little bit too straight to Nicholas Pooran with the penultimate delivery of the over and the left-hander whips it off his legs through fine leg for four.

  16. WI 23-2published at 3 overs

Good response from Moeen Ali with two dots and a single.

  17. 6 runs

    WI 21-2published at 2.3 overs

Shai Hope goes deep in the crease to give himself some room and heaves Moeen Ali straight down the ground for a straight six.

Back-to-back boundaries as Moeen Ali holds his length back forcing Hope to cut and some sloppy fielding from Will Jacks, who allows the ball to go through him at point for four.

  18. WI 10-2published at 2 overs

A great start for England. Moeen Ali continues.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.3 overs

    Mayers c Buttler b Topley 0 (WI 8-2)

    Bowling perfection from Reece Topley.

Kyle Mayers is squared up by the England left-arm seamer and nicks off.

The ball has just enough movement through the air and kisses the pitch before nipping and clipping near the top of Mayers' bat as he plays a defensive prod.

  20. WI 8-1published at 1.2 overs

One of England's battery of left-arm seamers Reece Topley, his lush beared neatly clipped, starts at the other end.

Some decent lines as West Indies opener Kyle Mayers nervously fends off the first two balls.
