Hash browns are not a form of potato and should never ever be served with an English breakfast.

Bharat, who has moved on to 35, brings out a couple of big slog sweeps against Joe Root but with sweepers on the boundary, he can only manage singles.

Meanwhile, the potato chat continues with some controversy...

Now that the second new ball is taken it is a big opportunity for England to make a comeback.

India have a fair amount of a lead already, but with the harder ball and the prouder seam that should help the spinners. Though it is a double-edged sword because the new ball can also leak runs.

This is a very crucial phase in the context of the whole Test match.

  4. Ind 346-5published at 86 overs

Tom Hartley is back and his first over concedes just three, but extends India's lead to 100 in the process.

Re: Potatoes, I ask candidates at interview, if you had to remove one of these forms of potato, which would you choose: chips, mash, hash browns, wedges? More interested in their reasoning, but I frown upon any answer other than wedges!

Jacket potato definitely depends on what filling you have. Beans and cheese for me, without a doubt.

Meanwhile, Joe Root offers a full toss and Jadeja is not going to miss out on that in this form. He thumps it down the ground for another boundary.

We're now asking whether dauphinoise potatoes are considered middle-class - but either way, they are top quality.

Favourite potato…how can you not have dauphinoise in your top three.

Jadeja took 3-80 in the first innings too.

A world-class spinner who can bat in the top six. Enviable.

Jadeja's fifty has been a nice display of going up and down the gears. He flew out of the blocks but recognised the situation as soon as KL Rahul got out. He had to be the person that knuckled down and took this innings forward.

Just listen to that roar! Ravindra Jadeja dabs into the leg side, before being gifted two more overthrows, to bring up an 84-ball half-century.

He swishes his bat around like a sword to the crowd and they absolutely love it. There's something so effortlessly cool about batting in a cap and he pulls it off so well.

I think higher release point means you get a bit more variable bounce on Indian pitches. But a skiddy bowler would trap people on the crease more often.

A question for Finny for me...

You were taller than Mark Wood. How much of an impact does a higher release point have on Indian pitches?

  15. Ind 333-5published at 82 overs

    Lead by 87

KS Bharat struggled initially but he's settling in now, mostly thanks to some poor bowling though.

Tom Hartley does brilliantly to save a boundary, diving full stretch at mid-wicket as they run two, but there's no saving the next. Rehan Ahmed drops short again and the timing is too good for anyone to stop.

The lead is accelerating much quicker now.

    Former England fast bowler

Gray Proud in Cambridge asks: Finny, if you had Wood’s skill set, what would be your tactics against the current batsmen in order to take wickets and what would you ask of your field?

If the ball is reverse swinging I would look to predominantly swing the ball away from the right-hander and then use my effort ball as an in-swinger every now and again.

In his last spell Wood knew he only had three or four overs to bowl so tried everything. There was no real setting up of the batter, it was more hoping they make a mistake.

That is the challenge of being the only seamer - when you get the ball in your hand you try too much to get the wicket.

  17. Ind 323-5published at 81 overs

Nothing is going Joe Root's way, but at least he is getting the ball to spin.

Jadeja blocks out the rest of the over to remain on 49.

I'm not saying that things have started slowly after tea, but our BBC Sport group chat has diverted to ranking our favourite kinds of potato.

We're mostly agreeing on roasties, chips and mash being the elites, while I've gone continental and thrown patatas bravas into the mix.
