  1. Ind 281-4published at 63 overs

Ton up for Tom Hartley - but he is a bowler, remember.

It is an absolute gift for Ravindra Jadeja, a full toss that is simply pushed back down the ground for four.

England have failed to build up any sustained pressure because they have handed India so many freebies.

Time for a drink and chance to regroup.

  2. Ind 276-4published at 62 overs

Just the single off Jack Leach's latest over, bringing a welcome bit of control for England. They could really do with him holding up an end.

There is a change of bowling at the other end as Tom Hartley returns. He is 1-97 from his 20 overs so far.

  3. Ind 275-4published at 61 overs

    India lead by 29 runs

Ravindra Jadeja is ruthless. Any ball that is off line or length he is dispatching to the rope.

This time Rehan Ahmed drops one in a little wide and Jadeja drives down the ground through mid-off to bring up the 50 partnership off just 51 deliveries.

India are starting to motor along here.

  5. Ind 269-4published at 60 overs

    In the air but safe!

Ravindra Jadeja smashed Jack Leach for six to start the over. He looks to repeat the trick with the final ball but gets it all wrong and the ball skews into the sky.

Long-on and deep mid-wicket converge, but cannot get there in time and the ball lands safe.

Ben Stokes has his head in his hands.

  6. Not outpublished at 59.3 overs

Ravindra Jadeja looked confident throughout that review and with good reason. There was no bat or glove to be seen.

Jadeja survives and now has a huge beaming smile on his face.

England think they have Ravindra Jadeja caught at short leg!

It is given out but Jadeja instantly reviews. The umpire's finger was barely up in the air.

  8. Marsh falls as West Indies dominatepublished at 07:24 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Australia's collapse continues against West Indies as Mitchell Marsh becomes the latest to fall.

He counter-attacked in his usual style for 21 from 20 balls but has been dismissed by Alzarri Joseph to leave Australia 54-5 in 11.2 overs.

They are now 246 runs behind on first innings, after West Indies were all out for 311 earlier.

Joe Root's round-arm action makes him very tricky in these conditions. When it spins it spins big, but when it doesn't it just skids on and can catch the batters on the crease which makes him to dangerous.

  10. Ind 261-4published at 59 overs

Great shot from KL Rahul as he goes inside out to dispatch the ball through the covers, though some smart fielding from Zak Crawley denies him the boundary.

Rehan Ahmed then gets one to spit up at Ravindra Jadeja and briefly excite the fielder at short leg. But like the previous over Ahmed drops one in far too short and Jadeja can pull away to the rope.

    More frustration for England.

  11. Ind 254-4published at 58 overs

    Frustration for Joe Root.

He bowls around the wicket to left-hander Ravindra Jadeja and cramps him for room, drawing a couple of uncertain shots. But he undoes his good work by throwing down a full toss that Jadeja punches away through long-on for four.

Root kicks the turf in anger in response.

Knowing Rohit Sharma and his captaincy style, there is a certain way that he wants his team to play. He encourages his players to be more expressive and backs them.

That is savage from KL Rahul. It takes India into the lead, it was far too short from Rehan Ahmed but that is some shot to hit it that straight down the ground.

  14. India 250-4published at 57 overs

    India lead by four runs

    Brilliant from KL Rahul.

He dispatches the first ball of Rehan Ahmed's latest over back over his head and into the stands.

Ahmed then bowls a horrible half-tracker that Rahul dispatches over the rope to bring up the 250 and move India into the lead.

  15. Ind 238-4published at 56 overs

Huge appeal from Joe Root, he's down on one knee pleading with the umpire, but no dice.

Root went around the wicket to KL Rahul, the ball pitched on middle and off before, gripping turning and trapping Rahul on the back foot.

The Hawkeye replay shows umpire's call, with the ball just clipping the very top of leg stump.

The reason I'm talking about England's combination of bowlers, is that it's not easy - even with four seamers - to get the right rotation. I'm not sure whether Ben Stokes will have ever led a side with four spinners.

So it's not just about conditions, it's about captaincy styles. Everyone has their own style, their own template, but it can be very difficult.

I think Rehan Ahmed is the most threatening bowler now, with a couple of left-handers in Jadeja in now and Axar Patel to come. You've got to know how to use your spinners, and I don't think Ben Stokes is used to that.

Just two overs for Jack Leach again. Are England being careful with him after such a long lay-off?

Joe Root returns to the attack. He is 1-27 from six overs so far.

Rehan, by the way, bowled two maidens at the start of the session. England's first maidens of the day.

  19. Ind 234-4published at 55 overs

KL Rahul is looking in good touch as he plays the ball off the back foot and powers it through point for four.

He then betters that with a powerful sweep-shot that fizzes through square leg and to the rope.

India just 12 shy of England's total now.

I still wonder whether England have gone with the right combination of bowlers. If you are not used to handling four spinners - and I include Joe Root as a frontline spinner - as a captain it is very, very difficult.
