All three wickets today have fallen as a result of batsmen appearing to believe there’s a ball out there with his name on it.

Unbelievably, Shreyas Iyer has picked out the only man out on the leg side! He threw his head up to the sky as he walks off - he can't believe his luck.
That's the sort of shot that will make the dressing room very quiet when you walk back into it.
Shreyas c Hartley b Rehan 35 (Ind 223-4)
Gone! Rehan Ahmed strikes after, quite frankly, a daft shot from Shreyas Iyer.
There is one fielder out on the leg side boundary and he slog sweeps it straight to him. Tom Hartley takes the catch and Shreyas can't believe it.
Quiet start to the session as Shreyas Iyer nudges a single of Jack Leach.
There is a bit of a scare for KL Rahul as he looks to cut off his back foot but under-edges the ball into Ben Foakes' boot.

In response to the Foakes comments about whether it can be counted as a chance - it was. He dropped it.
Also, had he caught it and England vociferously appealed, the umpire might have been swayed to give him out because the umpires know England have no reviews. So they can give the batsman out and if it’s wrong he can, and will, review it.

Jimmy Anderson's cameo has lasted one over. It might be that Wood was really enjoying the lunch provided by England's traveling chef. We've heard rave reviews.
That's a beauty from Rehan Ahmed as he gets one to grip and flash past KL Rahul's outside edge.
Encouraging start to the session by the young leggy as he bowls a maiden.
Jack Leach will open up at the other end.

Mark Wood hasn't emerged after lunch. James Anderson is fielding.
Very good, Mike.
The players are back out in the middle and it will be Rehan Ahmed to open things up for England.

Bacon roll was the choice. It has at least helped the viewing as India attempt to rind out a first innings lead ....

Very true Nick and Charlie - but if Foakes had held on and England appealed wildly, would the umpire have been influenced? KL Rahul may even have walked? We will never know of course but it is possible.
Not burning all your reviews in the first 15 overs of the innings would have helped too.

I am astonished that you go on about Foakes dropping the catch. The umpire gave byes. We have no reviews left so if it had been caught he would have been given not out.
Nick in Kochi in India
A lot of noise about the Foakes drop (he should have caught it). But the umpire signalled byes, and we have no reviews left. So surely it was irrelevant? Not the big reprieve everyone is making out?

Questions may well be asked about the use of England's spinners. Joe Root looked the most threatening and took an early wicket, but only had brief spells at each end of that session.
Tom Hartley and Rehan Ahmed have bowled 27 overs between them with combined figures of 1-134, while we only saw Jack Leach for two overs this morning.

Stokes has been a good captain, but I am struggling to understand some of his decisions in this Test....the gulf in class between the spinners is clear.

It is all kicking off at the Gabba.
Australia have limped to 24-4 at tea (the first break of the day) in the day/night Test in Brisbane.
Kemar Roach has three wickets, removing new opener Steve Smith for just six, before dismissing Cameron Green and Travis Head in successive deliveries.
Earlier, the West Indies added 45 runs to their overnight score to reach 311 all out.
You can listen to commentary of that game from our friends at ABC by heading over here.
If you are just joining us, good morning! It has been another fascinating session.
Here are some of the highlights:
England made the perfect start when Joe Root removed Yashasvi Jaiswal caught and bowled for 80 in the first over of the day.
Root nearly had another when KL Rahul feathered through to Ben Foakes when on 0, but the ball could only brush Foakes' gloves and loop away to safety.
Tom Hartley bowled with more control than he did on day one and he got his first Test wicket when Shubman Gill chipped straight to Ben Duckett at mid-wicket for 23 to leave India 159-3.
But Rahul has taken advantage of his early reprieve to pass fifty in a partnership of 63 with Shreyas Iyer to move the hosts to within just 24 of England's first innings total.
Cheers, Ffion. A great stint.
Go and get some breakfast and have a deserved break.
I'm sure many of you are just waking up at this more sensible hour, with commutes or school runs to get on with.
So I'm going to treat myself to a coffee and some cereal, and I'll hand over to Tom Mallows to take you through a recap of what you've missed.
Enjoy!
India's session.
They trail by just 24 runs, with seven wickets in hand and KL Rahul is unbeaten with a half-century to his name.
England took two wickets in the first hour, but it's been hard work since then.
