A batter who can sweep and reverse sweep really gets into your head as a bowler. It puts the bowler off because you have got to put a fielder out at deep cover-ish for the reverse, which deprives you of a close fielder or an attacking one.

But then you start scratching your head because if they're good at it, it is very hard to stop them from doing it. You can look to bowl it very full, and bring lbw into play.

Ben Duckett said before the series that he would use it as his forward defence - and it looks like all of England's line-up has listened! And India's brilliant spinners, Ashwin and Jadeja, have looked baffled by it.

Jasprit Bumrah is coming back for a final burst as the sun dips behind the stand.

    He was brilliant earlier.

They're showing Ollie Pope's wagon wheel on TV but it makes very little sense given he's played half of this innings as a left-hander with all of those switch hits.

It is one of the best innings I have seen by an overseas batter in India. I can't think of many as good as this, perhaps only Steve Smith in Pune in 2016-17.

What makes it so special is his attacking intent, the way he has attacked the India bowlers on a very bowler-friendly surface.

For anyone who hasn't seen his innings yet, I can only say that you have to find some highlights.

It has been an enthralling day. England started well with the ball and that gave them the momentum going forward.

It's been a great confidence-boosting innings for Pope. He was skittish in the first innings but here, is footwork has been assured and confident.

And now, England have a sniff. Another 100 runs or so and you just never know what could happen!

    He has played absolutely brilliantly.

Well what do we call this?!

I reckon it's the reverse Dil Scoop from Ollie Pope. He's turned his hands and lifted Ravindra Jadeja up over his own head for four.

Ollie Robinson is sat on a plastic chair in a yellow bib down there and, with one foot up on the other knee, he politely applauds like a man watching over people.

Ravindra Jadeja is furious with himself after first bowling a no-ball and then giving Rehan Ahmed a gift outside off stump which lets the teenager off the mark with a boundary.

There are nine overs left today.

    Jon's fault...

What could Ben Foakes do about this? Very, very little. A short ball from Axar Patel has practically rolled along the surface and hit his off stump.

    There's relief in India's celebration.

I tell you what, there are some frustrated faces among the India players now. Ollie Pope gets fortunate again as he gloves a reverse sweep up over Rohit Sharma at slip.

Pope's going to live the reverse sweep and may well die by it.
