  1. Ind 5-0published at 1 over

    Lead by 148

A bit of width from James Anderson and Rohit Sharma crashes it away. There's a few hands on head from England but it was comfortably away from any catchers.

The Barmy Army are doing their best to lift England from the sidelines. They know how important a wicket or two tonight could be.

You can never write off this team and you can never write off Ben Stokes.

Their attitude will be to expect that they'll get at least two wickets tonight.

    Right, here we go.

Rohit Sharma and double centurion from the first innings Yashasvi Jaiswal are making their way out to the middle.

James Anderson has ball in hand.

We should be at stumps now, but we haven't got through the overs today so we're going to play until 11:30 GMT.

That will provide England with an opportunity to do some damage to the India top-order.

There isn't much for the hosts to gain, but England can start the fight back. We'll have just over 20 minutes I think so maybe five or six overs.

When I handed over at lunch and England were 32-0, I didn't expect to be live texting them bowling in this evening session.

I definitely didn't when they were 114-1 in the 23rd over.

They have let an opportunity slip but Jasprit Bumrah was absolutely superb. He's turned the game on its head.

  7. Postpublished at 11:00 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Jasprit Bumrah finishes with a superb 6-45. Those are his third-best figures in Tests.

He celebrated with a little fist pump before leading the India team off the pitch, ball held aloft.

    Anderson lbw b Bumrah 6 (Eng 253)

Jasprit Bumrah has six and England are all out for 253.

Just too good for Jimmy Anderson. The 41-year-old just turns his back and walks off.

England trail by 143 on first innings.

I'm not a Star Wars aficionado but whilst the first test was A New Hope, this Test feels like The Empire Strikes Back. Bumrah just needs a black cloak and a metallic voice...

    Decent over for England.

This last-wicket stand is now worth 18.

    Frustrating for the hosts.

Now the reverse sweep, he doesn't connect, but England pick up two byes.

Anderson has been robbed of two runs because there was some glove on it. KS Bharat didn't really react to the possible catch, with the ball hitting his inner thigh on the way through.

    Yes, he will.

Crunched into the mid-wicket fence by James Anderson.

    His sweep is magnificent.

Shoaib Bashir helps himself to a single.

Without Kohli, Shami, Rahul or Jadeja this was/is a perfect opportunity to go 2-0 up. The chance may have been wasted….I hope I’m proved wrong.

Two singles from Jasprit Bumrah's latest over.

The scheduled close is in 10 minutes by the way, but we've still got 15 overs left, so we'll be going until 11:30 GMT.

Watching Bumrah is just so awe-inspiring.

    Jon

What people like Pope and Bumrah show is surface is not an issue as long as you have the talent and skill!

    Harshad, Cleethorpes

Thought I'd look this up because I just saw Bumrah's Test average is below 21 and don't remember many bowlers with that many wickets with such a low average. But Bumrah has the second-lowest bowling average of any bowler who has taken 150 or more Test wickets. Only England's Sydney Barnes has better. And he was born in the 1800s...incredible.

Shoaib Bashir doesn't have to wait long for his maiden Test boundary, one ball in fact.

It's a lovely shot too, flicked past mid-wicket.

  18. dropped catch

Bashir dropped on onepublished at 52.4 overs

    Eng 239-9

    Wow.

Shoaib Bashir drills a straight drive back at Mukesh Kumar, but the bowler can only stick a hand up in the air and can't hold on.

He's unlucky, but so is Bashir. That shot deserved a boundary.

  19. Not outpublished at 10:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

There's a squiggle on the technology as the ball passes the bat and James Anderson survives.

Whether there was an edge, I'm not sure, because the bat was also potentially grazing the floor at the same moment.

But, Paul Reiffel correctly decides that the evidence is inconclusive and the original not out call stands.

  20. India reviewpublished at 52 overs

Is this the end of the innings?

Jasprit Bumrah fires in another yorker, this time to James Anderson. Huge lbw appeal.

Marais Erasmus says no. Is there an edge?
