Has James Anderson just had a word with Jadeja for doing his bat waving celebration having run out a debutant?
It looked like it.

Has James Anderson just had a word with Jadeja for doing his bat waving celebration having run out a debutant?
It looked like it.
Well Jadeja has got there.
He looks a little sheepish as he celebrates his century.
Kuldeep Yadav has come out as nightwatchman.
Jadeja is still on 99...
Sarfaraz run out (Wood) 62 (Ind 314-5)
It was coming! Terrible, terrible cricket from Ravindra Jadeja. He has just stopped scoring as he closed on his century. Sarfaraz tries to do him a favour by stealing a single, Jadeja sends him back on 99 and Sarfaraz is run-out by a direct hit from Mark Wood.
Rohit Sharma is furious in the dressing room. He has slammed his cap onto the floor.
Now Jadeja nearly runs out Sarfaraz! The youngster sprints and dives for a single for Jadeja, who himself just wanders down the other end.
Jadeja on 99...

Root is handy enough with the ball but I don't think he's quite good enough to be the fifth bowler. Today and the second Test show how desperately we miss a proper all-rounder.

Unlike his captain Rohit Sharma earlier, Sarfaraz Khan does not look interested in taking on bouncers from Mark Wood. He ducks the lot of them for a maiden.
Mark Wood is back. The new ball is available but England aren't taking it just yet.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain
Sarfaraz is playing the perfect innings for a number six. The bowlers are tiring and he has gone on the attack. Exactly what you want from your six, while allowing Jadeja time to just chill.
Jadeja 96, Sarafraz 61
There are two games going on here. Ravindra Jadeja is crawling his way to a century and leaving the run-scoring to the debutant. This partnership is worth 73 and Sarfaraz has scored 61 of them.
Both of these batters have had warnings for running down the pitch in the last few overs. I don't think Ollie Pope is very pleased.

Some ominous signs from the pitch. It's spinning more regularly and some balls dusting the surface. England will need a serious first-innings score.
Jadeja 96, Sarfaraz 61
Woooft. A ball from Tom Hartley turns and bounces more than any we have seen today to beat Sarfaraz completely. That's one of those that will present mixed feelings for the England players with the prospect of them batting last.
Unperturbed, Sarfaraz blasts another down the ground later in the over. He wants a debut century tonight.

What a debut innings this is from Sarfaraz. The day is turning on its head.
Jadeja 96, Sarfaraz 57
Jimmy is furious. First Sarfaraz starts wandering down the pitch to him - do these youngsters not have any respect? - and then he plays a late cut to the boundary.
Sarfaraz's scores in his last four innings are 161, 4, 55 and 96. It shows.
Ebony Rainford-Brent
Former England batter
An impressive half century on debut from Sarfaraz. Making Test cricket look easy.
Ben Stokes needs some control and, perhaps unsurprisingly, he turns back to James Anderson.
The new ball is three overs away.
And there's the debutant's fifty from just 48 balls. Spectacular stuff.
He's had to wait as many do in Indian domestic cricket and is taking his chance.
The best of the lot!
Sarfaraz Khan lifts Tom Hartley down the ground for six.

How we are going to miss Jack Leach's experience and control in these remaining three tests. Such an under appreciated cricketer.
