    Mark Wood!

I was just about to write that England were travelling around the ground early on but the tourists' speedster gets the big early wicket of Yashavsi Jaiswal - India's double centurion from earlier in the series.

There's just a bit of bounce and left-handed Jaiswal pokes outside off. The ball takes the edge and goes straight to Joe Root at first slip.

A coolish morning in Rajkot is giving way to hot sunshine. The temperature on my computer says 26 degrees and it's not 10am yet. The mercury could get to 35 degrees over the weekend.

The stadium is a little way out of town, one road in and out. It was chaotic outside the ground earlier, but it's not too full - that might change if India bat well in the afternoon.

Already the pitch looks very flat.

Rohit has had a poor series so far but he is too good a batsman to keep missing out.

There are signs of some bounce with the new ball.

    Happy Birthday, Phil.

I'm sorry to say Yashavsi Jaiswal hasn't got the message. Four more to the India 22-year-old with another drive through mid-off.

    It's rude of him, frankly.

Morning! It’s my birthday today and I’m up with my 78-year-old dad watching in our dressing gowns. A couple of Anderson wickets in the first session would be a nice gift!

  6. Ind 13-0published at 04:11 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

The early signs are this is a Rajkot road.

India skipper Rohit, in his languid style, just pushes Mark Wood back past him for the most comfortable of fours.

It'll be Mark Wood from the other end.

This is the first time in the series England have been able to bowl pace from both ends.

  8. Ind 6-0published at 1 over

Jimmy Anderson grimaces after his fourth delivery. It was a no-ball and I think he knew it.

The next eases past Rohit Sharma's edge with Anderson making the most of whatever is on offer.

It isn't a lot but you were expecting that.

  9. Ind 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal seems to have spent his week off watching himself play in the first two Tests.

As Anderson goes full in search of early swing, the young India opener drives the first ball of the match back down the ground for four to lift the crowd from their seats.

We have just seen a shot of the pitch. There are some cracks there already but it looks a good surface.

Rajkot has only hosted two previous Tests - one against England in a 2016 draw - but it has a reputation of being a batter's venue.

England made 537 here last time and India made 649-9 declared against West Indies in 2018.

As you may have heard, this week is Ben Stokes' 100th Test.

It has been quite the journey from that 22-year-old who first turned up in Adelaide.

Our chief cricket writer Stephan Shemilt has written about the England captain's journey.

"Like Brearley and Botham rolled into one," he says. "Enjoy it while it lasts."

Let's do that but also look back on some of the greatest hits.

Jadeja may be back but that India team certainly has an inexperienced look about it - the batting in particular without Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer.

Rajat Patidar only made his debut last week. Sarfaraz and Jurel will do so this week.

Is this a bad time to tell you Sarfaraz has a first-class batting average of 69.85?

  15. 'We would have had a bat'published at 03:42 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

England captain Ben Stokes: "We would have had a bat. It is what you do in India."

On playing his 100th Test: "Time flies when you are having fun..."

On the series being tied at 1-1: "It is a fair reflection of both teams. We have been very happy with how we have gone about things in the first two Tests. It has been a nice break to recharge."

  16. 'It looks a good pitch'published at 03:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

India captain Rohit Sharma: "It looks a good pitch, obviously better than the last two we played. We know Rajkot is supposed to be a good pitch. It is a good toss for us to win to bat first and put runs on the board.

"The next three Test matches are going to be as exciting as the first two. We need to keep our focus on what we need to do here."

    India have made four changes.

Ravindra Jadeja has been passed fit. He returns in a major boost. Seamer Mohammed Siraj is also back.

But there are also two debutants in this India side - batter Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

England announced their team yesterday with Mark Wood back in the side.

After 10 long days without it, the cricket is back.

India and England are ready to leap from their chairs for round three of this fascinating contest.

The series has moved on to the Gujarat city of Rajkot. One team will likely leave one up with two to play.

Will it be England or India? You'll have to stay with us to find out.
