    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 110-4

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It's been a pretty decent morning for Nottinghamshire.

A couple of quick wickets for Brett Hutton a few minutes ago appear to have swung the momentum in Notts' favour on the third morning.

  2. wicket

Bears all out for 333published at 12:07 British Summer Time 7 April

    Warwks 333 v Worcs 360

Jason Holder ends a miserable morning session for the hosts with a nasty bumper to Chris Rushworth.

The ball balloons off the splice of the bat and keeper Gareth Roderick sprints up from behind the stumps to take the ball just off the turf.

Warwickshire have lost 5-41 this morning.

  3. wicket

WICKET McManus c Alsop b Coles 50published at 12:07 British Summer Time 7 April

    Sussex v Northants 371

Chris Tremain gets four more with a lofted drive down the ground off James Coles but it's all over now.

It's not a great delivery from James Coles, landing little more than halfway doown the track but Lewis McManus top edges a pull to Tom Alsop, who runs in from the off side and takes it behind first slip.

Northants have had the best of the day so far thanks to McManus and very handy cameos from Sanderson and number 11 Tremain - who is unbeaten on 22.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Lewis McManuspublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 7 April

    Sussex v Northants 360-9

One over after Chris Tremain launches Jack Carson for six down the ground, McManus faces James Coles on 49...

There it is! Tucked away in front of square leg for an easy single.

His fifth half century for Northants follows a barren 2023 when his top score was 27.

    81 balls and eight fours.

With just four wickets falling in the first two days of the match, there was little sign of the pattern changing at a blustery Lord’s in the first hour as Mark Stoneman and Max Holden notched up their century partnership.

Stoneman gave Kiran Carlson a run-out chance on 66 but he could not find the target from almost square on, and there were very few occasions when the ball beat the bat.

Holden's 50 came off 115 balls but Stoneman, looking to smash Carlson through the off-side to reach his century, gave Dan Douthwaite a difficult chance which he hung onto.

Sam Northeast may be being brought back down to earth after his ground-record innings, but the Glamorgan captain at least had something to smile about in the field.

  6. wicket

WICKET Stoneman c Douthwaite b Carlson 97published at 12:04 British Summer Time 7 April

    Middlesex 199-2 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

There will be no century for Mark Stoneman as he falls three shy.

The eyes light up when Kiran Carlson offers a bit of width outside off, but Stoneman fails to get over it and he is caught in the covers.

That is a pity as a hundred was there for the taking.

  7. 50 runs

for Max Holdenpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 7 April

    Middlesex 197-2 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

The runs continue to flow at Lord's and number three Max Holden reaches his half century from 115 balls.

  8. wicket

WICKET Briggs c Holder b Finch 12published at 12:00 British Summer Time 7 April

    Warwks 330-9 v Worcs 360

Adam Finch joins the attack for the first time today and strikes first ball!

Back of a length, just outside off. Danny Briggs is really neither attacking or defending and nicks off to Jason Holder at slip.

Chris Rushworth is in at number 11 for the Bears.

  9. Hat-trick ballpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 7 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 109-4

    Here comes Matt Critchley...

It's on the stumps and Critchley defends it away.

  10. wicket

WICKET Cox c Clarke b Hutton 0published at 11:58 British Summer Time 7 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 109-4

Two in two balls for Brett Hutton!

It's a strangle as Jordan Cox flicks one down legside and Joe Clarke takes the catch.

Notts are right back in this game!

  11. wicket

WICKET Cook c Clarke b Hutton 29published at 11:56 British Summer Time 7 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 109-3

A first wicket of 2024 for the leading wicket-taker in Division One last year.

The first ball of his spell and Brett Hutton gets enough lift from the surface to have Sam Cook edging behind.

Still, Cook has done a fine job as night-watchman.

  12. Northants pass 350 at Hovepublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 7 April

    Sussex v Northants 352-9

They've done it and in some style.

McManus launches into a Jayden Seales half volley, lofting the ball down to long off for four runs.

    He's on 46.

  13. wicket

WICKET Dickson c Leaning b Garrett 17published at 11:54 British Summer Time 7 April

    Kent 284 v Somerset 25-1

    Breakthrough for Kent!

Sean Dickson prods forward to a good-length ball and edges to Jack Leaning at second slip, giving George Garrett his first wicket on his debut for the home side.

Tom Lammonby is in to join Matt Renshaw, who is six not out.

  14. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 7 April

    Warwks 330-8 v Worcs 360

Joe Leach is round the wicket to Oliver Hannon-Dalby, who pushes the ball through off side for a single.

Leach bowls too short and wide and Briggs carves the ball through cover for a precious four runs.

Briggs is beaten outside off pushing forward and survives an lbw shout to end the over. Bit too leg side.

  15. Postpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 7 April

    Sussex v Northants 346-9

Northants are a couple of hits away from three batting points in one game, riches indeed compared to last season.

McManus is forward to Robinson, driving the bowler through cover for four.

Tremain picks up a boundary of his own, rocking back and cutting a wide bumper through backward point for four. 10 runs off the over.

  16. Play to begin at 12:30 BSTpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 7 April

    Lancashire 202 v Surrey 11-0

The news from the field at Old Trafford is that play can begin at 12:30 BST after overnight rain delayed the start.

  17. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 7 April

    Warwks 325-8 v Worcs 360

We could be on for a whirlwind one-innings shoot out here, now that less than 50 runs separate the two sides.

Danny Briggs guides Joe Leach to second slip, who takes the ball comfortable on the bounce. Soft hands saved Briggs there.

Briggs squeezes the fifth ball of the over through point for one.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby gets a boundary with with a thick edge wide of slip and all along the ground. Five off the over.

  18. 100 runs

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 104-2

Sam Cook hits a six for EssexImage source, Rex Features

The Essex 100 comes up and in fine style too.

Dane Paterson drops in a short ball to Sam Cook and he confidently swivels pulls it over the short boundary at deep square for six.

Cook is doing a fine job as night-watchman - he is now up to 25.

    Essex lead by 64.

  19. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 7 April

    Sussex v Northants 334-9

Sussex are close to wrapping it up as McManus pushes Robinson airily into cover and the ball drops just short of the fielder.

He's on 35 not out and well capable of guiding Northants to a third batting point with Chris Tremain, who himself has one first class century.

McManus sees out the over, costing just one run.

  20. 'A good morning for Worcestershire'published at 11:38 British Summer Time 7 April

    Warwks 318-8 v Worcs 360

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

It has been a good morning for Worcestershire, it's turned out perfectly.

They've managed to get that wicket of Dan Mousley who was the batter who looked most likely and then they've got a new ball and tail enders to play with.
