  1. 6km to gopublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Stuyven and Trentin lead by 16 seconds

Nils Politt is the Katusha man trying to lay everything down on the road for Alexander Kristoff.

Trek-Segafredo still look the strongest team in the chase and they are not too interested in chasing.

Staggering lack of organisation by the sprinters' teams so far in this race.

  2. 8km to gopublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Stuyven and Trentin lead by 16 seconds

Still a small gap for the front pair. The peloton have got to judge this just right to make the catch - odds still in their favour, though.

Katusha have now put two men on the front of the peloton for Alexander Kristoff but still no sign of Lotto Soudal for Andre Greipel.

  3. 10km to gopublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Stuyven and Trentin lead by 15 seconds

Ramon Sinkeldam back on the front of the peloton for his Sunweb team-mate Michael Matthews.

The gap is holding at 15 seconds as Stuyven and Trentin stream into Putney and approach Putney Bridge.

  4. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

The Sunweb rider on the peloton pulls off to give his Katusha counterpart a go.

Trek-Segafredo are still there with four riders in positions two to six in the peloton.

Perhaps they've got another card to play if team-mate Stuyven is caught? Can't see another sprinter in their line-up, though. Maybe Koen de Kort?

  5. Impey droppedpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Not a major climb but enough to crack Daryl Impey as the South African falls back.

Now just Jasper Stuyven and Matteo Trentin out front alone.

  6. Postpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

The break and peloton are onto a bit of a drag up to Wimbledon Village.

Not a major climb but probably enough to ensure the front three will be caught soon.

  7. 15km to gopublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Impey, Stuyven and Trentin lead by 13 seconds

The gap have pretty much halved in 5km as the peloton up the pace and the leading trio perhaps start to tire.

How long can they last off the front?

  8. Postpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

If this trio are caught and it comes down to a sprint finish, a reminder of the names to look out for...

    • Michael Matthews (Aus/Team Sunweb)
    • Elia Viviani (Ita/Team Sky)
    • Ben Swift (GB/Team UAE Emirates)
    • Sam Bennett (Ire/Bora-Hansgrohe)
    • Alexander Kristoff (Nor/Katusha-Alpecin)
    • Mark Renshaw (Aus/Team Dimension Data)
    • Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo)
    • Andre Greipel (Lotto Soudal)
    • Mathew Hayman (Aus/Orica-Scott)

Kristoff must be on a good day, given how hard Katusha have ridden for him. Sunweb are up there for Matthews too.

Trentin has a kick on him as well, but has surely done too much work in the break to compete the finish.

  9. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

This is a frenetic run-in and the peloton seem to have finally upped the pace accordingly.

The gap is down to 15 seconds, with around 17km to go.

  10. 20km to gopublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Impey, Stuyven and Trentin lead by 25 seconds

One Sunweb rider and two from Katusha are chasing the breakaway trio on the front of the peloton.

Behind them are Trek and Quick-Step, who have no interest in bringing back Jasper Stuyven and Matteo Trentin respectively.

It's effectively three v three. The sprinters' teams need to get active or this trio might just pull this off.

  11. Postpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

The race is into Kingston now and will shortly hang a right and skirt back into central London via Wimbledon and Putney.

  12. 25km to gopublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Impey, Stuyven and Trentin lead by 37 seconds

This should be a frantic chase back into London now.

The odds are the peloton will still bring this back - they certainly have enough time to - but they can't leave it much longer or let Trek interrupt things again.

About half an hour of racing to go.

  13. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Lotto Soudal have gone AWOL so far in this race - their sprinter Andre Greipel had a torrid Tour and perhaps he's still not on great form.

Team Sky have sent a man up the front. Sunweb and Katusha still have a man each working, but Trek remain up there, trying to ruin the chase.

Quick-Step also have four riders after Trek's four - they won't want to bring Trentin back either.

  14. Postpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

A fierce tailwind is benefiting the leading trio as the peloton can't get themselves organised or fend off Trek's spoiling tactics.

The gap is out to 34 seconds now.

  15. 30km to gopublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Impey, Stuyven and Trentin lead by 28 seconds

Trek-Segafredo are doing a grand job of wrecking the chase behind.

Katusha and Sunweb only have a couple of riders left up front to work on bringing it back.

This is getting a touch desperate for the peloton - the gap is growing to the front three.

  16. Postpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Trek-Segafredo have lined up on the front of the peloton - the other teams will want to dislodge them soon as Trek won't ride hard to chase down their own man Jasper Stuyven.

  17. 35km to gopublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Impey, Stuyven and Trentin lead by 22 seconds

The gap goes back out to 22 seconds as the peloton continue to get organised.

Expect the sprinters' teams to start hitting the front and jostling for position as the charge continues.

  18. Postpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

Katusha and Sky with a rider each on the front of the peloton, slowly eroding the advantage of the front three - it's down under 20 seconds for the first time in the last few kilometres.

  19. 40km to gopublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

The stalemate lasts another 5km as Trentin, Impey and Stuyven hold their 20-second advantage as the race zooms through Leatherhead.

  20. 45km to gopublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

A brief entente between the leading trio and the chasing peloton as the gap holds between 15 and 20 seconds.

The peloton are just getting themselves organised and will reel them in when they see fit.
