  1. The favouritespublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

If it ends in the expected sprint, here are the quick men to look out for:

    • Michael Matthews (Aus/Team Sunweb)
    • Elia Viviani (Ita/Team Sky)
    • Ben Swift (GB/Team UAE Emirates)
    • Sam Bennett (Ire/Bora-Hansgrohe)
    • Alexander Kristoff (Nor/Katusha-Alpecin)
    • Mark Renshaw (Aus/Team Dimension Data)
    • Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo)
    • Andre Greipel (Lotto Soudal)
    • Mathew Hayman (Aus/Orica-Scott)

Plenty of other sprinting and one-day prowess out there, though, so plenty of different outcomes possible.

Last year's race had an extra loop of Ranmore so here's where the route has changed to knock off 20km or so.

It shouldn't make too much difference to proceedings, but it will be interesting to see if any break can outfox the sprinters' teams.

The break of Keisse, Schmidt and Castelijns have a lead of 1'15'' now on the peloton.

  3. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

The race is currently into a section of the route where they complete two laps, including two climbs of Ranmore.

After that the famous Box Hill climb is the next major challenge before a lengthy run back into London and towards the finish on the Mall.

That run-in usually means the race comes all back together and ends in a sprint finish.

More on the fast men to look out for soon...

Welcome back to anyone who joined us for our live Tour de France coverage, by the way.

Just when you thought you were out, they pull you back in, eh?

Spare a thought for the 31 riders who started the Classic today after having ridden the Tour.

Only two of those - Matteo Trentin and Marcel Sieberg - didn't finish the three-week race.

    Nails.

The break of Keisse, Schmidt and Castelijns have lost over a minute of their advantage on that climb.

They now lead the chasing peloton by 2'10'' with 100km to go.

The RideLondon-Surrey Classic became the first British race to join the top tier when it was awarded World Tour status in August last year.

It's also billed as the richest one-day race in the world, due to a total prize pool of 100,000 euros (£89,485.65) - which is on parity with yesterday elite women's race, won by Coryn Rivera.

It's got some way to go before it's held in the same regard as the biggest one-day races in Europe, such as the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

But a host of World Tour teams and elite riders keep coming back each year and the large crowds, together with the mass participation races, make it a special event.

The break of Keisse, Schmidt and Catelijns are onto a stiff climb in the Surrey hills.

Behind, the peloton are speeding through Dorking.

  9. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

The elite riders are tackling a 183km course around London and Surrey before an iconic finish on the Mall.

There's around 112km left of the race - a breakaway of three riders currently have an advantage of 3'46'' on the peloton.

A bigger break went away earlier but it's down to Iljo Keisse (Quick-Step), Mads Schmidt (Katusha) and Twan Castelijns (LottoNL-Jumbo) now.

One last reference to the other parts of RideLondon......

Gina and her partner 'Wally' from Harlow in Essex took part in the RideLondon FreeCycle for three years and each year choose a different fancy dress outfit.

"We had 1950s gear on last year but decided on Where's Wally for this year. It's amazing how many comments we've had," they said.
