    Women's omnium

Sir Chris Hoy knows full well what Katie Archibald has been through.

The Olympic legend met his fellow Scot before these championships and she told him about how losing her partner Rab Wardell actually gave her the perspective to get back on the bike after being hit by a car during a training ride.

Given the 2022 she had, it's a wonder she is even competing tonight, let alone already has a gold in the bag from the team pursuit.

    Sir Chris Hoy
Six-time Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV

The toll that the emotions of this week have taken on Katie Archibald, it could be that [it is impacting on her performance]. It could be that, physically, she has not had the foundation of training to allow her to be in very top form but she is already a world champion.

She wants to put on a show and the crowd are willing her on but if it's not in your legs there is nothing you can do.
