    Lea Friedrich creeps past the Briton's back wheel on the home straight but the Welsh rider holds on to claim her first international title.

    She's a world champion - at 20 years of age - having already won a silver and bronze in the team sprint.

    The Englishman was well placed with a lap to go but after the bell he gradually slipped back and had given up the chase by the time Australia's Matthew Richardson took the heat win.

    I wouldn't like to call that. It was that close. It was a wily ride by Friedrich. Finucane got right up to the top of the track to get maximum acceleration.
