  7. 'It's lovely to see people enjoying themselves'published at 21:18 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

Michael van Gerwen 4-10 Phil Taylor

    Phil Taylor tells BBC Sport:

"It's wonderful. The lovely part is to see people enjoying themselves. This is lovely. This is pantomime.

"Michael let me off a couple of times, but the secret was if you can put him under pressure enough, then he might miss."

  8. 'I didn't really turn up'published at 21:16 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

Michael van Gerwen 4-10 Phil Taylor

Michael van Gerwen tells BBC Sport:

"I didn't play well. I wasn't focused enough. It wasn't my day, but never mind, tomorrow we have another day.

"Fair play to Phil, he had some good finishing but I didn't really turn up."

  9. 'He never gave Michael a sniff'published at 21:13 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

Michael van Gerwen 4-10 Phil Taylor

    Mark Webster
    2008 BDO world champion

He never gave Michael a sniff, he never gave him a chance. He was taking out big finishes. He took out a 167, a 138, a 120 to finish the game.

He just didn't relent, he didn't let Michael get in the game. We were talking about this spurt from Michael, he didn't get the chance to have that spurt.

  10. Phil Taylor winspublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

Michael van Gerwen 4-10 Phil Taylor

Incredible. Phil Taylor has absolutely destroyed Michael van Gerwen up there.

He finishes it in some style too with his sixth maximum followed by a 120 outshot.

    Taylor is into Sunday's semi-final.

Michael van Gerwen 4-9 *Phil Taylor

That's some message from Taylor. MvG hits a 180, Taylor responds with a max of his own and then finishes 138 on double nine.

Stunning, simply stunning from The Power. AND VAN GERWEN STILL HASN'T HELD HIS THROW!!

*Michael van Gerwen 4-8 Phil Taylor

This is an absolute masterclass from The Power. He starts the leg with a 180 before eventually finishing on double one.

Van Gerwen missed a couple of darts at double himself. The world number one isn't quite at the races tonight.

Michael van Gerwen still hasn't held his throw as Phil Taylor lands a dagger in the heart with double top.

In the words of the late-great Sid Waddell - "I do not believe my goggling bins!"

Taylor has looked completely dominant so far, but it's still a two-leg match.

Van Gerwen piles in a 170 and 180 before finishing 55 on double top. 11 darter. Superb.

MvG still has plenty of work to do if he wants to add the £100,000 winner's cheque to his kitty over the last couple of years.

Michael van Gerwen 3-6 *Phil Taylor

Oh, almost from MvG. He misses double 10 for a 134 checkout and Taylor steps in to finish on double 15.

Van Gerwen still hasn't held his throw. Extraordinary.

*Michael van Gerwen 3-5 Phil Taylor

That's better from MvG. He fires in a super 136 to leave tops which he takes out first dart.

Break of throw for the world number one.

Michael van Gerwen 2-5 *Phil Taylor

I'm not sure I've ever seen Phil Taylor as focused as this.

The Stoke thrower starts the leg with a max, almost hits a second but the dart deflects into the five, and then finishes 101 on double 16.

My word this is outstanding. Taylor is averaging 108.

*Michael van Gerwen 2-4 Phil Taylor

But you don't write the world number one off. He won't give up easily.

MvG lands a 180 and then takes out 122 on the bull.

Incredible standard from both so far.

  19. Postpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

Michael van Gerwen 1-4 *Phil Taylor

This is The Power at his best. Taylor fires in a 13-darter to make it 4-1.

    He's focused. He's determined. He's a champion.

*Michael van Gerwen 1-3 Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor is absolutely pounding MvG here. The 56-year-old misses the bull for a 161 checkout before landing double eight.

    No bother.
