What a contrast to this afternoon from The Machine.

A solid 15-dart leg from Anderson extends the advantage to four legs. The world number two finishes on double eight.

James Wade is usually so clinical on double 10. But not this time. He misses two at his favourite double and Anderson lands a left-hook by finishing 80 on double top.

He's broken Wade's throw for the second time and is in danger of running away with things.

NOW HE HAS A MAX! Anderson lands a 177 followed by his first 180 of the day.

He messes around on the doubles but eventually finishes on double two. Wade missed a dart at tops to steal the leg too. 

Gary Anderson can't hit a 180 for love nor money today. The Scot fires in back-to-back 140s and then takes out double 20.

No maximums, but his finishing is superb.

Meanwhile Anderson misses a dart at tops to finish 104 before Wade steps in to take out double 19.

If you go on the afternoon performance you have to go for James because he was so composed.

Gary didn't feel like he was firing on all cylinders but he still averaged 96.

Adrian Lewis speaking to BBC Sport: “I’m a bit disappointed with my form. I struggled to get over the line but not all of the players are here with 100% confidence and that’s what I’m feeling.

“I’ve had a couple of weeks with the family after the World Series events, I’ve not put the work in, and it’s cost me I think.”

It had a bit of everything. Sometimes we don't need 110 plus averages to make it a great game.

I couldn't take my eyes of that game because I genuinely did not know who was going to win.

Adrian Lewis will be a mightily relieved man. He takes out double top to beat Bully Boy.

It was a match with flashes of brilliance, but some poor finishing.

Michael Smith looks like he's heading out, while Lewis' hopes of qualifying for the semis are still alive.

He's back in this! Michael Smith can't hit his doubles, but he can certainly hit the bull!

Smithy takes out 85 on bullseye and he's two away from victory! But Lewis has the throw to win it.

Michael Smith makes hitting 180s look so easy at times. But his doubles have been so, so poor. After a max he eventually finishes on double one to break the throw.

Can he turn this around? Surely not.
