    All gone.

Michael van Gerwen suffered a shock exit in his very first game, losing 10-7 to Austria's Mensur Suljovic in the last 64 on Friday evening.

His fellow former world champion, Wales' Gerwyn Price, went home the same night, beaten 10-9 by Germany's Martin Schindler.

And another ex-world champ, Michael Smith, exited in the last 32 to Luke Woodhouse on Saturday.

Stephen Bunting is a former BDO world champion, but he ended his long wait for a PDC televised major at the Masters four weeks ago.

Asked if that success has given him more belief, he told ITV4: "I'm coming into events feeling like I can win them all, the confidence is there."

Bunting faces world champion Luke Humphries in his quarter-final after coming through a deciding leg to beat Peter Wright in the last 16.

"Against Luke, you can't give him a sniff," added Bunting. "I don't want this to go all the way, I want to get it done early. He's the world number one and world champion, he's a great player, but I have beaten him on the big stage before.

"Every game is different but I'm really looking forward to it."

One for the darting diehards to be drooling over first up.

Stephen Bunting headed into the UK Open on the back of his first PDC major triumph at the Masters last month.

But he's done it the hard way in Minehead so far with deciding-leg wins over Kevin Doets and Peter Wright helping him squeeze into the last eight.

And things are only going to get tougher for the Bullet with world champion and world number one Luke Humphries - the man who has won almost everything there is to be won over the past few months - next up.

This tournament always throws this up - there are a couple of outsiders in there and it'll be interesting to see who gets into the semi-finals.

  6. What is the UK Open?published at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March

Simply put, it's the FA Cup of Darts.

On Friday, 158 players began the tournament - with their stages of entry depending on their ranking.

The top 32 players in the world, for example, had byes until round four.

Unlike most darts tournaments which are seeded to keep the top players apart in earlier rounds, this competition has a random draw after every round - just like the FA Cup.
