Rupert Arvidsson:, external Manchester United may be 3-0 up but Olympiakos only need one goal to go through. United must not get complacent.

Joe Wedgewood:, external Forget Juan Mata - on this form we need Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs up top! All three unplayable tonight.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

Olympiakos need a goal now, and they throw on a striker. It's Hernan Perez who comes off, and Nelson Valdez is on. Still 35 minutes left.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

Roy Carroll would have saved that free-kick.

At the other end, Alejandro Dominguez's free-kick deflects wide with David de Gea wrong-footed...

"It was a good finish from Robin van Persie but he just passed it into the net. Why would you stand in the middle of the goal as a goalkeeper and not be able to see the ball behind the wall?

"Roberto actually took a step to the left away from the ball. The ball went in four or five yards in from the post so it wasn't right in the corner.

"Make sure if you Manchester United you score the next goal."

He fancied it, and he buries it! Again though, what is goalkeeper Roberto up to? He stands in the middle of the goal and watches as Robin van Persie's shot plonks into the net a few yards to his right. Hardly Stuart Pearce. United lead for the first time in the tie.

Dave Conway: , externalCan we get Antonia Valencia an eyepatch permanently? He is incredible with one eye..

A reminder - an Olympiakos goal would leave United needing four. And the hosts suddenly look very empty at the back as Leandro Salino's cross runs through to the back post, there are two men spare but David Fuster's header is tame and wide.

"You want calm and cool heads now to try and boss the game, not to take any stupid chances. They will get chances in the second half.

"If Man Utd go through then the David De Gea save will have been a turning point."

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar on Twitter:, external This is looking much better and more like the Manchester United everybody wants to see! Giggsy showing his world class passes as he has been doing for so many times!! Good to see the "old" man taking the team by the hand! Almost forgot the incredible double save from David de Gea who was crucial as well!

Antonio Valencia is somehow still on as Manchester United return for the second half. David Moyes and Ryan Giggs are all smiles. The job's not done yet lads...

Which side is going to come out and finish the job then? Do not go away. This could be a corker of a second half.

Dave, Bedford: This isn't over. Olympiakos have created chances and they haven't really committed men forward yet, they will in the second half.

Craig, Notts: United need to be careful. An Olympiakos goal would turn the tie on its head.

The inclusion of Ryan Giggs in the team was not exactly met with universal appeal before kick-off, but the 40-year-old played a big part in both goals.

Only Rio Ferdinand played more than his 23 passes in that first half for United. The old boys have still got it.

Chapman's Tribute:, external Won't be anything 'heroic' about United pulling back a result here. Olympiakos are a very average side in a very average league

Hisham Alkooheji: , externalThis is the most I've seen the team committed and passionate since Sir Alex Ferguson left, an excellent first half performance.

Ed Gutteridge:, external Ryan Giggs, what can you say? Just the greatest we'll see at United. Stunning that he's still doing this.

    Man Utd v Olympiakos

Manchester United edged the possession in that first half - and we could be on for another 75 minutes yet. If there are no more goals in the second half then it's extra time...

"The awarding of the penalty was a big thing for United. They have had one or two scary moments. David Moyes needs to go in there and calm them down, you can't afford to give away a goal.

"I think United's problem is Patrice Evra and Rafael are so good going forward but they just knock off at times.

"When De Gea first got here they thought his hands should have been on his feet as he only used his feet but what a great double save."

Bhavin Manish Shah:, external Wayne and Robin start passing to each other and BOOM!

Sham Gallagher: , externalWhat a match, Giggs has been phenomenal, Rooney what a good pass. Van Persie with a lovely tap in. This isn't United

Stuart Mitchell:, external United will be fine in the long run, to have the ability to play like this when its last chance saloon, shows all is not lost.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

It was looking promising for Zenit after Hulk fired in that thunderbolt, but they are back to square one as a result of Dortmund captain Sebastian Kehl's header. The German side, missing several key players through injury, are a shadow of the side that breezed to final last season, but another quarter-final spot beckons.
