"The timing could not have been better. Robin van Persie levels the tie on aggregate as the first half enters one minute of stoppage time. David Moyes set off at a sprint towards the dressing room as the half-time whistle blew - perhaps to throw his arms around goalkeeper David de Gea for that crucial double save just before Van Persie's second."

The second goal was the first pass between Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in the game. That's what happens when your best two attackers can link up.

David Moyes sprints down the touchline. Calm down Dave, calm down...

He does not miss those! Ryan Giggs at the heart of it again, playing an early pass forward into the run of Wayne Rooney, he pulls it down and squares it for Robin van Persie - who slots it home hard and low. Massive moment.

Patrice Evra has looked ropey at the back but he's having a fine game going forward. The captain links up with Danny Welbeck, shrugs off a challenge to burst into the box but he can't connect with Wayne Rooney. We are into the last minute of a very entertaining first half.

BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at Old Trafford

"Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was one of few to emerge from Sunday's mauling against Liverpool with his reputation intact and that double save brought Old Trafford to its feet. That could prove to be a pivotal moment in this game. United have been warned though - Olympiakos have real pace and threat on the break."

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

Antonio Valencia wants a penalty after wrestling with Giannis Maniatis but is waved to his feet, he is then lucky not to see a card after flying into a rash tackle. We may end up with a red card tonight, it's tastier than a portion from Lou Macari's chippy.

Akarim: , externalHard to see Olympiakos not scoring. Look dangerous every time they go forward

Oli Bowling: , externalHow likely is it that Man U will be comfortably leading 3-0 late in the game before conceding a very scrappy goal to get KO?

"It's a really good start for Man Utd but I look at Olympiakos and I think they have got a goal in them.

"Great save from David De Gea."

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

Big moment again! Manchester United's defence goes missing as a cross from the right is met by David Fuster. His header is well kept out by David de Gea, who makes a brilliant second save to kick out Alejandro Dominguez's follow-up. That was almost curtains, and Old Trafford belts out De Gea's name.

A captain's goal for Dortmund, that should see them over the line. Again the goalkeeping leaves plenty to be desired as Sebastian Kehl meets Marcel Schmelzer's cross. The header is firm but Vyacheslav Malafeev can only push it right into the top corner.

"It was a bit of a looping header from Patrice Evra, Roberto made the most of it saving it.

"He wants the stats for saves."

  14. CLOSE!published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

One for the cameras! Patrice Evra heads a corner on, there's not much power behind it, but Roberto makes a meal of pushing it over the crossbar. United fancy getting the better of this lad. Plenty of crosses coming in...

Robin van Persie has made just three passes so far - but nobody will care if his goals send United through. Ashley Young has been warming up as Antonio Valencia's eye gets bigger and bigger. Surely he'll have to come off at the interval?

We are just past the half-hour mark.

One more United goal then and we will go to extra-time. Two more and they will be through.

If Olympiakos score then United have to get four though - and they go close as Michael Carrick makes a great clearance from two yards out after an Olympiakos corner is whipped back across.

"It was very akin to Phil Jones and Joe Allen on Sunday, almost identical and it was a stonewall penalty.

"What a great ball from Ryan Giggs and clinically finished off by Robin van Persie. The goalkeeper had no chance. United just need to sit in position for the next 10 minutes now and not give Olympiakos any encouragement."
