Daan:, external Can't see United going through. Giggs starting? Why oh why isn't Moyes using Kagawa?

Only One Juan:, external Good to see Welbeck back but it's a sign of what Moyes thinks of Kagawa, even with Mata out, he doesn't start. United 3-1 win

Usama Zafar: , externalNice team selected by Moyes. I would have preferred Fellaini over Robin Van Persie just to be strong defensively.

BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at Old Trafford

"This is the sort of night when David Moyes has to demonstrate the powers of motivation and inspiration that persuaded Sir Alex Ferguson to put him forward as his successor as Manchester United manager.

"After the humiliation of Sunday's 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool, the pressure is firmly on Moyes and United to claw back a two-goal deficit from the first leg against Olympiakos in Greece and reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

"One interesting observation from Moyes to United's fans in his programme notes as he writes: 'You know exactly how these big Champions League games work, even down to the importance of making time-wasting noticeable to the officials and we - the staff and players - will also be doing everything we can to make sure this is not allowed to happen.'

"I'm not sure where that rates on the grand scale of mind games and psychological ploys."

  3. Rubbish...published at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2014

Manchester United boss David Moyes has accused the media of trying to destabilise his side.

Moyes and the club have denied reports of disagreements between the manager and senior players such as Robin van Persie and Ryan Giggs.

"A lot of people are trying to divide us in some way or not keep us together," Moyes told MUTV.

"I can only tell people what they're hearing or what they are saying is rubbish."

You hear that? It's all rubbish. Starting Ryan Giggs is certainly one way to silence the rumours...

It doesn't seem likely that Manchester United would make a managerial change any time soon but what is your opinion on the future of David Moyes?

Does he just need time to get his side to gel? A summer transfer window to bring in some more of his own players and get the team playing? Will he come good in the end? What is he getting right?

Or is he just not up to it? Would crashing out to Olympiakos be the final straw? Is it all down to the players? What is he doing wrong?

Interesting. Ryan Giggs starts for Manchester United, as does Rio Ferdinand and Antonio Valencia.

Man Utd XI: De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Ferdinand, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Giggs, Welbeck; Rooney, Van Persie.

Beat Olympiakos 3-0 and you're through.

Last season - or nearly any other season over the last 20 years or so for that matter - you'd imagine that tonight's equation would hardly tax Manchester United. You'd think that a team containing Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck, Adnan Januzaj and co would find the goals they needed easily enough.

But this not any other season. Manchester United have lost nine times at home since Real Madrid knocked them out of the Champions League a year ago.

They beat Norwich 4-0 in October in the League Cup but have not managed to beat anyone else by more than two goals all season. Fortress Old Trafford has seen wins by Everton, West Brom, Newcastle, Tottenham, Swansea and perhaps most damagingly of all, Liverpool.

David Moyes's side must rebound from all that to win well tonight - or it's season over by mid March.

When the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League was made before Christmas, the consensus was that Manchester United had come out smiling.

David Moyes was rewarded for winning his group by being pitted against Greek champions Olympiakos, as he avoided a tie against either Zenit St. Petersburg, AC Milan or Schalke.

But those smiles have long since faded. A 2-0 defeat in Athens last month means that United must now turn it around in front of their home fans. An act that has not been straightforward this season...

    'STAND BY YOUR MAN'

    'MY JOB IS SAFE'

    'THE CHOSEN GONE?'

This morning's headlines were full of a defiant David Moyes insisting that failure to progress to the last eight of the Champions League tonight would have no impact on his future as Manchester United boss.

"My future has not changed one bit," said Moyes. "I have a great job.

"I have a six-year contract. This club does not work on short-term vision, it works on a long-term vision."

Whatever the future holds for Moyes, a win against Olympiakos tonight is absolutely vital to lift the gloom around the Theatre of Dreams - which is in danger of falling foul of the Trade Descriptions Act at the moment.

To go through in 90 minutes, United need to score at least three goals. That is the only short-term vision that matters...
