Steve Surbiton via text: Am sorry but this is everything that is bad about football. Park the bus and Mourinho is a delusionary manager having a go at West Ham. This is terrible football.

David, Edinburgh via text: Maybe the football hipsters should go and set up a sport without defenders and goalkeepers. Different tactics are what makes the sport so fascinating. Defending is as much an art as attacking.

Henry: Zzzzzzzzzzzz, wake me up when the next manager gets fired.

Chelsea old boys Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were solid enough in that half, but will they both be at the World Cup this summer?

  3. Championship updatepublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

That's half-time at the Reebok Stadium and we're still awaiting a goal. Leaders Leicester have made most of the running, but Bolton are hanging in there in their efforts to deny Nigel Pearson's men the win that will seal the title.

  4. Championship updatepublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Dean Whitehead must be close to being on first-name terms with most Championship referees. The Middlesbrough midfielder has picked up his 14th yellow card of the season. To rub salt in the wounds, his side are 2-0 down at Reading as half-time approaches with six minutes of added time.

We started the night asking what Jose Mourinho may have done if he had ended up managing Manchester United - but would United fans be happy with this approach? It's almost a back six at times, with Willian and Ramires working their socks off as wing-backs.

  7. Championship updatepublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Surely it's only a matter of time before Leicester break the deadlock at Bolton in their quest to be crowned champions, as Danny Drinkwater and Richie De Laet both go close. No goals and, as it stands, that's not enough to clinch the title.

Alessio Dimaria:, external Chelsea could do with Mata tonight, someone who can make something happen. But they sold him because he can't track back.

Zak Millington:, external Chelsea would be better with a centre-half up front to just hold the ball, rather than Torres whose control is atrocious.

Sam Stanton:, external Very ironic that Mourinho called Allardyce's tactics 19th century football. The godfather of dull football is Mourinho.

Chris Waddle on BBC Radio 5 live

"Chelsea are defending as a team very well. Jose Mourinho will be delighted with what he has seen so far. Atletico have not troubled Chelsea enough for me.

"We knew it was going to be very tactical. It's like a training ground game - see if you can score."

I wouldn't say Fernando Torres (number nine) was isolated up front for Chelsea but they will have to send messages by pigeon in the second half. He may as well set up a deckchair.

Reading are putting their head in where it hurts against Middlesbrough, as Hal Robson-Kanu earns a bloody nose in an accidental clash that looks like ending the Wales international's night. The Royals are 2-0 up and cruising after 30 minutes. If it stays like this, they're heading back into the top six.

Diego drills in a shot from 20 yards which Mark Schwarzer fields like a proper Australian. No single to long-off there.

Darren Francis via text: Sensible approach from the Blues take the draw back to the Bridge when Hazard, Ivanovic and now Cech will be back.

Josh, Norwich via text: Games like this are one of the main reasons I love football. It is not always about going hell for leather trying to score six. Mourinho's tactics are spot on, a man who understands football.

  16. INJURY TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Into the last minute of a dull first-half. And there will be four minutes added on for the injury to Petr Cech.

Tyler Powell:, external Chelsea and Atletico are two dogs circling each other, each afraid of the other's bite. Someone's got to show some teeth here.

Usama Zafar:, external Is this a Champions League semi-final or a relegation battle's six-pointer?

Alistair Wiseman:, external Jose knows how to win the European Cup. If people don't like his negative tactics, it's simple, don't shout for Chelsea!

David Nugent heads just wide for Champions-elect Leicester against Bolton. There's nothing between the teams with 25 minutes gone at the Reebok Stadium as we await the first goal.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Diego Costa rifles in a shot at the back post which Cesar Azpilicueta blocks at point-blank range, the home side want a spot-kick for handball but they get nothing from referee Jonas Eriksson.

Azpilicueta turned his back on the shot and didn't have his arms out - but the ball did hit his elbow. Would have been very harsh...

Safe hands! Thibaut Courtois comes out to make a fine claim from a corner. That should answer the 'cold night in Stoke' question.

The only problem for the Belgian is the fact that Petr Cech is only 31. Courtois may well be out on loan for another five years yet.
