David Ljunggren:, external What a dire game. Chelsea have parked the bus and Diego Costa et al show no sign of finding the keys.

Adam Momoniat: , externalFull-backs staying back, Torres isolated, Mikel boring. Mourinho has a plan and Chelsea usually win but they're so dull to watch.

Amour El Marjeby:, external Doesn't look like a semi final of the Champions League. It's a Sunday football league game between two managers who are trying to avoid the sack.

"Atletico are playing into Chelsea's hands. They need to move the ball around a lot quicker. It's too easy for the visitors. We know what Jose Mouirnho is all about. He has a game plan and it's going to take a mistake or a very well executed set-piece for Atletico to score."

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:22 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Nice hit. Mario Suarez is invited to shoot from 25 yards and takes the invite, curling just wide - with Mark Schwarzer getting a fingertip to make sure. No corner given, but a top save from the veteran Australian.

Matthew Llyr Evans: , externalFeels like Chelsea have no intention of leaving their own half. Don't understand the over-negative tactics.

Justin Daining: , externalChelsea can get something on the break, especially down the wings. The Atletico back four are in a tight triangle.

Gully: , externalThis game has a red card written all over it.

Fernando Torres has had nine touches so far. Plough that furrow son...

  6. CLOSE!published at 20:18 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Raul Garcia, the man who unwittingly ended Petr Cech's night, climbs high above Ashley Cole to head over at the back stick. Slightly better from the hosts, who are struggling to get past Chelsea's human shield.

  7. Championship updatepublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Reading are rewarded for their early dominance as they take a ninth-minute lead against Middlesbrough through Adam Le Fondre, who scores from close range. It gets worse for the Teessiders as defender George Friend puts through his own goal - 2-0 to the Royals after 14 minutes.

"Both teams are very similar. This is going to be a very tight two-legged tie and it could go to extra-time next week. It might even finish next Thursday!"

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:16 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Chelsea finally break out of their shell and all of a sudden Ramires is breaking away on the right. Remember that chip at the Nou Camp a few years ago?Well this is nothing like that as he scuffs a tame effort across goal. Fernando Torres had his arm up, screaming for the ball. Poor.

The best of times, the worst of times for Chelsea. On-loan keeper Thibaut Courtois is picking up valuable Champions League experience in the Atletico goal but current number one Petr Cech is off with a rib injury.

"Every Chelsea player is behind the ball and Fernando Torres is so isolated. You almost feel sorry for him."

  13. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

That injury has slowed the game down, again Chelsea won't mind that. The all-blacks are lined up in a rigid bank of defenders as Ateltico control the ball.

The hosts have had 66% of the ball so far but have not had a shot on target yet.

Rupert Arvidsson, external: Huge blow for Chelsea to lose Cech. This may swing the tie for Atletico.

Steven F Galloway:, external Three Chelsea keepers active in this tie in 18 minutes... surely a record?

The man who would be king, Thibaut Courtois, is now tested from a corner at the other end. He comes out, doesn't get there and is relieved to hear the referee's whistle.

Alex Storey:, external Petr Cech injured. If only Chelsea had a world class replacement to bring on.

Sam Borni:, external Wonder if Chelsea wrote a clause in that contract stating they can recall Courtois in the middle of a game?

Chris Waddle on BBC Radio 5 live

"That was a terrific corner. I don't know if meant to try and score from it. Petr Cech pushed it away and ended up in the back of the net. Mark Schwarzer is an experienced international. He won't be daunted by this."

  18. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

Mark Schwarzer was alive the last time Atletico Madrid were in a European Cup semi-final, as he is 41. I doubt he was watching from Sydney though.

He has no Champions League experience but the ex Middlesbrough, Marconi Stallions and Bradford man is on, watching on as a header flicks wide from the following corner.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:05 British Summer Time 22 April 2014

I think it was Petr Cech's ribs actually. Anyway, Cech is coming off, he is crocked and looks in pain.

Here comes Mark Schwarzer. This is a test, a real test.

Just looking at that incident again, David Luiz pushed Raul Garcia into Petr Cech, who maybe twisted his knee. Cech is back on his feet as Mark Schwarzer warms up. Is this the end for Cech?
