Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini: "To play the same way we did the whole season so far is the best way to win the match. It's a group that deserves to win the title so if we play the way we have we'll be successful.

"There's tension in every game, not only this game. They're experienced players and they know how to manage it.

"I don't think about [West Ham's] strong connection with Liverpool. I just think West Ham will be a very difficult team here. They will try to win and play like Aston Villa did in midweek, and we have to try to resolve those problems.

"Of course I'm excited, it's an important moment but we have to try to act in the same way we did the whole season."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew on Loic Remy's absence:

"He picked up a knock in the last game towards the end and hasn't trained all week, which is a blow for us because the stats show when he plays we're a lot better. But we've got a different look to us, hopefully we can contain Liverpool's waves of attack and hit them on the break like Palace did the other night."

BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Etihad Stadium

"The sun came out as Manchester City's players emerged to start their warm-up. Not one of them took so much as a glance at the Premier League trophy, positioned tantalisingly to the right of the tunnel. It still has red ribbons on it (and some white and black too), for now at least."

  7. Sandro's inpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 11 May 2014

Tim Sherwood on why he included Sandro in the team after the Brazilian stated publicly that his boss would be leaving at the end of the season: "They have a threat on the counter-attack with Gabriel Agbonlahor and with [Sandro's] discipline in midfield, he has to be first on the scene. Those are his instructions.

"Today's result is important for Europa League qualification, that's what we aim to do, but also to send our fans away with optimism for next season."

We've all allowed ourselves to consider 'what if' heading into this afternoon's games, and so have Liverpool City Council who have released details of a victory parade if the Reds were to win the title. They want residents and local businesses to be prepared for the open top bus tour which would be tomorrow (Monday) at 17:00 BST.

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, told the Liverpool Echo:, external "We know many people are superstitious and don't want to think about a victory parade until the title is in the bag, but unfortunately that isn't an option for those involved in organising an event of this scale."

Whatever happens, we can't promise Vladimir Smicer and Milan Baros will be leading the celebrations from the front of the bus!

"The Liverpool squad, to a man, were roared off the coach and into the dressing rooms as a sense of hope - rather than expectation - swirls around this famous old stadium. In his matchday column Brendan Rodgers accepts that individual players have grabbed "headlines and accolades" but he refuses to single anyone out, instead praising the "strength of the collective".

"The manager says his favourite banner inside the ground this season has been the one which reads "Make Us Dream, adding: "If there is one message I want you to take away from today and into next season, it's the importance of believing in that dream and having the optimism that we will achieve it for you".

Harry, Nottingham: Even if Liverpool don't win the Premier League today it is a fantastic achievement getting so close with seven British players in the core of their first XI.

Jay, London: It's very harsh and a little short-sighted that so many people are citing Gerrard's slip as pivotal in Liverpool's season. They have shipped 11 more goals than City and 23 more than Chelsea. That season-long factor is why they won't be lifting the trophy today.

Ross, Kent: Imagine a 13-0 win for Liverpool, only for a last minute 1-0 winner for Man City! Would sum this season up!

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Ray Clemence on Sportsweek: "Brendan Rodgers has brought youngsters through and Liverpool are playing football that the whole of the country enjoys watching.

"Liverpool fans would have been more than happy to finish fourth this season and get back into the Champions League so to have an outside chance of winning it on the final day has been fantastic. It's been an advantage not to be in the Champions League, they have a smallish squad compared to most of the other teams and that is what they will have to work on in the summer.

"It's totally in Man City's hands. Nine times out of 10 they beat West Ham, but it's the last day of the season and anything could happen."

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce: "It's about showing we're committed to the end of the last game even though we're safe against what's looking like being the champions.

"For us a draw is like a win. You look at their record this season, they've scored 61 goals here and only lost to Chelsea so if we get a result it's about what we do for us, nothing else. It's 100 per cent professionalism and doing the best we can against an outstanding side."
