"Whatever the result, I think the manager is definitely going to stay. It will hurt if Arsenal lose, but Arsene Wenger has a proud record in this competition and he will be desperate to win this.

"One of the criticisms of Arsenal's semi-final performance against Wigan was that they did not play with enough pace - to be fair Wigan pressed them very well but with the heat at Wembley today it will be interesting to see if Hull will be able to do the same."

Victory today will put a stop to one staple feature of Arsene Wenger press conferences.

"So Arsene, how important is it for this team, and the club as whole, that they finally win a trophy?"

But it won't stop those pesky journalists asking about his contract situation. Wenger, who passed 1,000 games in charge of the Gunners in March, is out of contract this summer.

He has said he will stay for at least another season, but has not yet put pen to paper. Monaco have reportedly been sniffing about their former manager.

"Wembley Way and the concourses around the stadium are awash with the colours of Hull City fans arriving early to make the most of their first FA Cup final. Arsenal are firm favourites, but Hull City manager Steve Bruce has experience of winning and losing on this occasion.

"There is a party mood among the fans who have travelled from Hull - there is far more riding on this, you feel, for Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger after nine years without a trophy."

As well as Assem Allam's presence in the posh seats, it will be interesting to see if Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore makes an appearance at Wembley.

Scudamore has come under increasing pressure over the past week after sexist emails he sent were made public.

FA chairman Greg Dyke has today told the BBC that their contents are "pretty horrible", while Heather Rabbatts, a member of the Football Association board, has accused the Premier League of fermenting a "a closed culture of sexism".

The Premier League's audit and remuneration committee, headed by Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, will meet on Monday to consider disciplinary action against Scudamore.

Former Hull striker Dean Windass on BBC Radio 5 live: "It's a great occasion. I never thought I would play for Hull at Wembley and I never thought I'd see them play here again but they have - and not just once but three times now.

"We know that Arsenal are massive favourites and will have lots of possession, but you have to be patient, stay in the game for as long as you can, and when opportunities come round you have to take them. We've not lost here, so hopefully it will be third time lucky."

Windass scored the winning goal in Hull's 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Wembley in the 2008 Championship play-off final.

So a 16th-place finish in the Premier League and a first FA Cup final after spending (relatively) big in January, might Hull fans be warming to owner Assem Allam?

Well, I think they may just reserve judgement on that one.

The Egyptian-born businessman indicated earlier this week that his plans to rename the club Hull Tigers might be revived, external in the summer despite the Football Association putting the block on it back in April.

The £72m that he has put into the club is in the form of loans as well. They are earning him a not-too-shabby 5% interest.

So close to a first European Cup in 2006. Ten-man Arsenal led through Sol Campbell's goal after Jens Lehmann was sent off against Barcelona, only for late goals from Samuel Eto'o and Juliano Belletti to give Barca a 2-1 victory over the Gunners in Paris.

Arsenal have gone close, but have missed out on the celebratory cigars in three cup finals since winning the FA Cup in 2005.

As Funhouse presenter Pat Sharp used to say, let's "re-run the fun" on the first of those disappointments...

If you are a movie director planning a northern remake of 28 Days Later, and why wouldn't you?, then head up to Hull sharpish.

As well as the city's football team being in their first Cup final down in the big smoke, the two rugby league sides, Hull KR and Hull FC, are meeting in a derby staged at Manchester's Etihad Stadium today. Both games kick off at 17:00 BST.

By which time there should be tumbleweed, and not a lot else, back in Hull.

You'll forgive Hull fans for being less than sympathetic of Arsenal fans moaning about their lack of silverware.

While Arsenal were duking it out at the top of the Premier League with Manchester United, Hull began the 2000-01 season locked out of their Boothferry Park home by bailiffs and ended it with defeat in the Third Division play-offs.

Since then they have been promoted four times in 11 season to rise from the bottom tier of the Football League to the top.

This is the club's first ever FA Cup final. And they are going to enjoy it.

The FA Cup final, its German equivalent between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and a mammoth La Liga showdown between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are all still all to come.

But if any of them rival the drama of earlier today at Roots Hall, they will be doing well.

After six minutes of injury time and a series of near-misses, Burton clung on to claim a 2-2 draw on the day and a 3-2 aggregate win to book their place in the League two play-off final against Fleetwood at Wembley.
