Here's more from Palace boss Tony Pulis: "It's been an absolutely unbelievable season, it's an outstanding achievement from all the players, the chairman, the board of directors to have been where we were to finish no lower than 11th in the Premier League.

"I have got a meeting with Steve [Parish the Palace chairman] on Wednesday or Thursday and we will sit down and discuss things.

"This is a great club but but it is so far behind when it comes to certain areas. It was similar to when I was at Stoke and I had a great chairman there in Peter Coates so we know how to do it but we need things put in place and hopefully we can agree a way forward for the club."

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis: "At half-time I really believed if we could keep it tight for 10 minutes then we could get back in the game but we didn't manage that.

"Liverpool are a team you can score goals against but they will always back themselves to score more than you so I always felt we would score.

"The first goal knocked them back a bit and our supporters were just amazing and they played their part.

"The big test was keeping their forwards quiet, we didn't manage to do that but we did score goals."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers ends his news conference by saying: "You never know what can happen at that stage in the game. My ambition is for Liverpool as a club, not for myself. The one thing with football is the impossible can become the possible, we know that."

Tim Purcell:, external My son has just gone to bed in tears and I'm numb. But I'm still proud of the team.

Ash:, external Rodgers gracious in defeat this time. Hope he and the team learns from that. The experience has been crucial, but fix the defence.

Mohammad Rizwan:, external Well Brendan has to take some blame. Why does he not play Agger? To justify Sakho purchase?

More from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "We go top tonight as well, with 81 points with a week to go in the season and we are sat here devastated.

"We finished seventh last season. We are ahead of schedule. We have made great strides but I am certainly here to fight and win titles and I will be relentless in that.

"We are trying to build something sustainable. This season has shown we will be capable of doing that. Next year I believe we will make more strides forward and hopefully be up there challenging again."

Sean Patrick:, external Attacking football? It takes one person to score, but it takes a team to defend. Football is a team sport.

Tim Verhaert:, external It's like that time Fulham scored 3 goals in 9 minutes against Chelsea. Luckily we were 4-0 up before that.

Michael Jacquest:, external Whatever happens Liverpool have had a fantastic season. Going from 7th to title challengers is a great achievement.

Here's more from Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "It is 99 goals we have scored, which is a phenomenal achievement by the team - but you have to defend. It is no good scoring all those goals if you defend as we did tonight.

"There is no doubt. Manchester City will go on and win it. We needed to win to keep the pressure on going into the last game and we did not do that. You have to have that maturity to see it through and we did not do that. It was bitterly disappointing and I would expect Manchester City to go on and win their two home games.

"Congratulations to Crystal Palace, they produced a great fightback and punished our mistakes."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was obviously very frustrating. For 75 minutes we were outstanding. We scored three goals, we created many chances, then we conceded with 12 minutes to go and we have to see the game out better than that. You cannot come here against a very good side, be the threat that we were and then defend as we did. It is criminal really.

"It is the [fault of the] team, coach, manager, everyone. We win and lose together. The supporters were brilliant for us. They helped us get in front but we ended up conceding three goals in the last 12 minutes. We win and lose together, so we will take the blame and move on."

Crystal Palace players are savouring a lap of honour at Selhurst Park. Forgetting Liverpool for one moment...what a season the Eagles have had. And what about Tony Pulis? At 3-0 down, he sent on Dwight Gayle, Glenn Murray and Tom Ince. He changed the game and potentially shaped the title race for one final time.

"I am lost for words, how do you sum that up? Liverpool were in control at 3-0 but they didn't kill it off and that's down to the manager. They kept playing the same way and you can't do that when you you are having periods where you are not in control of the game.

"How can you throw it that away?"

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen:, external Once the dust has settled, a bit like Man City v Sunderland, that point for Liverpool may not be the end of the world. A helping hand was always required from Aston Villa or West Ham. That's still the case. Win, lose or draw, Liverpool have been outstanding.
