If the scoreline remains the same, Liverpool will return to the top of the Premier League. They could do with a few more goals to boost that goal difference though...

Joe Allen takes aim from the angle just inside the penalty box but he slices his effort high into the Selhurst Park stands. Not his best moment.

"What an incredible break, fantastic play. Suarez and Sturridge split, it separates the defence, there's a lovely ball from Gerrard and the game opens up for them."

Another flowing move from Liverpool as Steven Gerrard expertly picks out Joe Allen, who shifts possession to Luis Suarez. The Liverpool striker is forced wide, but he works his way back into a better position and drills in a low shot from a tight angle which Julian Speroni does well to save.

Joe Allen is doing a fantastic job of linking defence and attack for Liverpool this evening. He's really improved in the last few months and, in the absence of the suspended Jordan Henderson, has expertly slipped into that dynamic midfield role. I reckon he's probably proving a few people wrong?

Chief football writer Phil McNulty at Selhurst Park

"Crystal Palace are finally in the game and making Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet work. Their fans do not need much encouragement to get behind their team and they have been encouraged in the last few moments."

Raheem Sterling is being given freedom to switch flanks this evening and, after having little joy down the left side, he switches to the right and skips past Damien Delaney before pulling the ball back for Luis Suarez but the PFA Player of the Year is leaning back and he skies his effort over the bar.

"They worked it and worked it, there were four or five players looking like they wanted to shoot but that was a brilliant save. You just want Palace to try to get something out of the game, you have to fight fire with fire against Liverpool."

All of a sudden, Liverpool are being pushed further and further back and Simon Mignolet saves them again with a superb fingertip over the bar from Mile Jedinak's dipping 25 yard shot. One of Brendan's best signings?

Jason Puncheon never fails to impress in a Palace shirt this season, and he causes a few flutters in the Liverpool end with a low shot from just outside the area which almost sneaks in at Simon Mignolet's near post before the big Belgian turns it around the corner.
