BBC Sport presenter Jason Mohammad on Twitter:, external "England have nothing to fear having seen these two. How much is Cavani worth? £50m? Uruguay were ordinary during Confederations Cup last year. Been telling England fans since draw was made. No surprise."

Edinson Cavani clips a teasing ball across the face of goal, leaving goalkeeper Keylor Navas in no man's land and Junior Diaz is taking no chances, heading behind to give Uruguay a corner. Cavani's subsequent header is kept out by Navas. Uruguay are pressing now.

"For the England scouts watching this, Costa Rica are very good at set-pieces. In the first half they sat back and the second half has been breathtaking from them.

"England and Italy will both be quite happy with this result. If Uruguay get zero points it will be a bonus for them because they will fancy their chances against Costa Rica."

Rohill:, external Uruguay had that coming. Such a low quality performance. Good for England this.

Christopher:, external The Ticos just turned this group on its head!

Josh:, external Costa Rica going from 1-0 down to 2-1 up is definitely my favourite story of the World Cup so far. And what a header!

"Who saw that coming? Luis Suarez is warming up down in front of me, but Uruguay only have one more substitution to make.

"The Liverpool striker may not be 100% fit but his country need him now, because defeat here would leave Uruguay facing a massive task to qualify."

    Joel Campbell stat

Joel Campbell absolutely loves a shot from distance and he has Uruguay fans' hearts in their mouths when he launches an effort from outside the box that curls just beyond the right upright. Got to hand it to Costa Rica, great stuff from them in this half and they have Uruguay rattled.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez reacts to that double blow by hauling off Diego Forlan and replacing him with Nicolas Lodeiro, while Walter Gargano is comes off with Alvaro Gonzalez taking his place. No Luis Suarez. Yet.

    Oscar Duarte scores

My word; would you believe it? Costa Rica win another free-kick following a foul by Walter Gargano and again it is sent to Oscar Duarte at the far post. This time he gobbles up the opportunity, diving in to steer a header beyond Fernando Muslera. Luis Suarez warming up.

    Joel Campbell celebrates

Joel Campbell! Who else? The Arsenal man has easily been Costa Rica's best player and he fires in an equaliser to stun Uruguay. Cristian Gamboa does superbly to whip the ball into the box and, for some reason, Campbell is left unmarked. He takes full advantage to smash in a low drive.

Chris:, external Both teams underwhelming so far, Campbell the one positive. If this is all Uruguay have to offer then England have little to fear.

  14. CLOSE!published at 21:11 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

Good chance for Costa Rica! The free-kick from the foul on Joel Campbell is fired into the area and Oscar Duarte rises to head it towards goal. Fernando Muslera saves, but only manages to push the ball back to Duarte, but he cannot turn it home. A let-off for Uruguay.

Diego Lugano picks up a booking as he is caught out by Joel Campbell's burst of pace. A decent position for Costa Rica, 25 yards from goal...

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

The Costa Rica players gather in group huddle for a bit of a pep talk before getting this game back under way. No changes for either side.

Wayne, Birmingham: This game is crying out for a Luis Suarez. No quality in the final third whatsoever!

"The half-time scoreline feels about right. Uruguay have done just about what they needed to do and not a great deal more.

"The heat is certainly a factor but, from an England point of view, Uruguay without Luis Suarez appear to lack any real fizz in attack.

"Diego Godin is a tremendous defender, Egidio Arevalo a dogged midfielder, but what neither Cavani nor Forlan are offering at present is genuine pace. Costa Rica are not out of this yet."

We saw a goalkeeper howler from an unexpected source last night when Iker Casillas gifted a goal to Robin van Persie. Tonight, we have seen the opposite end of the spectrum with Kelyor Navas producing arguably the save of the tournament to keep out Diego Forlan's effort.

For Costa Rica fans, it will have come as no surprise. He has been superb for his club Levante and over the last five seasons, no goalkeeper to have played at least 25 games in the top five European leagues has a better saves to shot ration than Navas (80.2%).

Expect a few top European clubs to be keeping a very close eye on him in Brazil.
