"The crosses have been raining into the Honduras box and France are dominating. The quality of this French team. There is a nice balance to their play and they are all comfortable in possession. Paul Pogba - he looks some player. Antoine Griezmann did everything right with the header that hit the bar, he just couldn't get over it enough. It's just where the goals are going to come from without Franck Ribery and a clear goalscorer."

    Ah that is brilliant!

What a pass from Antoine Griezmann, left to right, 45 yards, on a centime to Mathieu Valbuena. He pulls it back for Karim Benzema but he heads over.

The pass was tres, tres bien...

Unlucky France! Antoine Griezmann climbs superbly at the far post to meet a teasing cross from the left, but he heads powerfully against the crossbar from five yards out.

    Anywhere else etc...

"This is what the Honduras fans want. They know it is going to be about survival, whenever they survive a France attack, there is a huge applause and sigh of relief. They are not getting forward much themselves, I suppose they are hoping to hit them on the break."

Josh:, external Mathieu Valbuena is so good at dead-ball situations. Every ball in causes so much panic in the box.

  7. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

Mathieu Valbuena has been the most impressive performer so far and he links up well with Patrice Evra down the left before the Manchester United man's cross is cleared.

Karim Benzema has only had five touches so far though. That could be the problem.

"A few moments ago Honduras were looking good on the ball but they just lost their concentration and gave it back to the French. You don't want to be doing that because this France side looks good on the ball, they play with lots of movement and are really taking the game to their opponents. They are really impressing me in these early stages. Noel Valladares had to make a great save from Blaise Matuidi's flick, just to touch it onto the bar."

France keep winning free-kicks, and Mathieu Valbuena keeps delivering them. His next one is a beauty, it drops for Blaise Matuidi, and he shovels an awkward shot on goal, which is brilliantly saved by Noel Valladares, he just about tips it against the crossbar.

Lovely save from the CD Olimpia man...

Nick:, external It makes me feel sick that we let Paul Pogba go on a free from Manchester United. All he wanted was first team football...

Well played Noel Valladares. The Honduras goalkeeper claws out the second free-kick which was a real test. France have had over 70% of the play so far, they are looking slick without yet testing the keeper.

"It was rehearsed but the way the ball was struck towards his head, that was supposed to have all the pace on it and, I tell you what, I think that was meant as an attempt at goal!"

Mathieu Valbuena plays a clever free-kick out to the edge of the box for Karim Benzema, but it's too high and the Real Madrid man has to head it from 20 yards. Unsurprisingly he fails to test the keeper. France now have another free-kick in the same position.

"When Hugo Lloris is in goal for any team, they always play a high defensive line because he wants to play as sweeper. France are playing an incredibly high line and Honduras have tried to break it three times with long balls and I think they have been incredibly unlucky with some of the referee's calls.

"Why play that way? They are good enough not to take that risk."
